Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino and Post State Editor Fredric U. Dicker last night got into an angry confrontation -- during which Paladino threatened, "I'll take you out."
It started when Dicker asked Paladino if he had any proof of his shocking allegation that Democratic rival Andrew Cuomo cheated on his former wife during their marriage.
"What evidence do you have for something most people would consider a smear?" Dicker asked.

I want to know why you think I don't.
You have done your best to smear Paladino.
I haven't smeared him at all.
Your repeating the accusation ad infinitum doesn't change the fact that I did no such thing.
wideawake is not “one of us” he is a long time troll
look at his profile and see how he is casting a net for conservaitve to say bad things, then collecting his trophies
I wish they would ban him as a troll
If he is a conservative he is doing NO GOOD here
If he is a troll he is causing damage
No, I'm not. I'm from New York and I live in New Jersey.
LOL that is really rich... You live in New Jersey but your not from New Jersey? Lol how does someone rationalize that kind of convoluted logic...lol
So when the National Enquirer tracked down Edwards' girlfriend and illegitimate child to a hotel in Los Angeles, the prevailing sentiment on those threads was one of disgust that the NE had found them?
Is that really your take on the reaction to the Edwards story on this forum?
Sounds to me like Paladino and his wife had a tragedy, a loss of a child.
As a matter of fact, Edwards also lost a teenage son in an accident. Nobody thought that excused an affair.
Many times after something like that marriages have problems. That doesn't make the man a dirtbag.
The affair started at least nine years prior to the tragedy.
I don't care how high and mighty this Dicker fellow claims to be. He wasn't being even handed.
Paladino said Cuomo had an affair. Dicker asked him to back it up.
That's a perfectly fair question to ask.
He may not have been behind the camera man going to the child's window, but the camera man was there because of him.
The New York Daily News does a story on Paladino's infidelities months ago. Months later the editor of the New York Post is somehow responsible after the fact for his competitor publication's breaking of the story?
Really?
Just so you know, the New York Post is the closest thing to a conservative newspaper in NYC (especially since The Sun folded) and generally endorses Republicans and is about the only paper that ever goes after Democrats.
You disgust me and I wouldn’t believe a word you say.
Let's pretend for the moment that the only reason why I became a FReeper more than a decade ago was to lie in wait to "shill for Cuomo" -
That doesn't work. I have seen a lot of older signups change their minds on politics and get the boot. They always use their signup date as "proof" when it proves nothing.
So what would be the best way to help Cuomo out on a website like this?
By smearing Paladino which you have done. You're earlier posts on this thread were filled with contempt and vitriol because Paladino had an affair and a daughter.
Want links? I'd be happy to refresh your memory.
And you never answered this: Again, I want to know why you think you have a dog in this fight when you live in Jersey. "I used to live in NY" doesn't cut it. I used to live in Ohio and I don't follow their politics. You have done your best to smear Paladino. Why? You don't live here.
This NY RACE is going to be so much fun and the election tampering MEDIA is going to be the BIGGEST LOSER.
Go CARL! Go get 'em.
I'm laying out the facts. You're digging.
This is a new era, one where Republican fight back, especially against people who take pictures though their daughters bedroom windows.
Apparently not, since there is zero evidence that Dicker did any such thing.
Watch the video.
It's been on the local news about 100 times today.
It is certainly not helping Paladino's cause among independent voters.
Nor was he accused fo doing it by Pallidino.
As far as you being here for a long time, seems to me Sen. Spector was a Republican for a long time before he became a demonrat, so longevity doesn’t mean squat.
Nor was he accused fo doing it by Pallidino.
Fine with me.
I'll make this statement: if Paladino focuses on his strengths, he can win in November.
If he makes this election about his personal life and Cuomo's personal life he will certainly lose in November.
If you had read the post, you would realize that I was not arguing that longevity meant anything.
I was arguing that the timeline implied by the accusation was improbable.
Oh, you're a political EXPERT now... a man/woman? of many talents I see.
The independents are the voters he has to capture... you don't influence the independents..especially in NY with a typical political campaign... Carl blew away Lazio in only one way... He spoke like a common man.... NOT a politician.
Why do you think independents are... "INDEPENDENT"?
They don't like POLITICIANS.
Mr./Ms. wideawake, where do you get you profound political acumen? From the Corzine or the Cuomo play book?
You’re the one who brought up that you signed up more than a decade ago, which is meaningless. You very well could have changed your mind over the years like Specter did. Using your signup date as evidence you’re not a shill for Cuomo doesn’t work.
Courageous post. Thanks for the ping.
Step back and ask yourself which of the two following objectives is the best course:
(1) Bending over backwards to defend every bad decision a candidate makes or
(2) Pointing out the bad decision and offering a constructive alternative.
I'll say it yet again. Paladino needs to get back on message: taxes, spending, jobs. He needs to do that today.
Again, you’ve completely missed the point.
I don’t believe I have missed any of your “points”. I just believe they are all BS.
You were asked: You're from New Jersey...and you say: No, I'm not. I'm from New York and I live in New Jersey.
Has no valid point.
That's Michael Dukakis 1988 type thinking.
