After four lawsuits alleging he coerced young males into sexual relationships were filed, Georgia pastor Eddie Long took to the pulpit Sunday to carefully nuance his side of the story.
Long, the charismatic who leads his mega-church of 26,000 members, told reporters after Sundays service that he would challenge the allegations. Joined by members of his legal team, he carefully read from prepared remarks always a sign of innocence.
By now we know how the redemptive process works for a televangelist accused of sexual relations with young males. First there is the allegation. Then there is the carefully worded, non-denial denial in which he says he will fight the charges. Then the preacher puts his jet and all the money he has yet to get into the bankruptcy-proof corporate shell he controls. Then his lawyers handle the settlements while the preacher gives lots of ensuing sermons on forgiveness.

Christ isn’t here to spread the word. He ascended, if you recall. He left the church to his disciples. But you can stew in your anti-papist juices til the cows come home, homey.
Good point.
On the other hand, this particular church is into CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP, and that usually denotes the brand of Baptist church that Jimmy Carter prefers.
They may or may not be Christians, but they aren't that concerned about it. Still, compared to the various brands that put homosexual clergy in the pulpit they're considered on the "conservative side" ~ 'cause they don't do it openly.
Well, anyway, these guys aren't Catholic. They aren't Lutherans either. And they're not really Baptist if any of this is true.
You are in error ~
Nope. Not at all.
You must not have noticed ~ “they” didn’t beat the rap ~ they (their employers) are paying through the nose!
Join me in a small Restorative Beverage? Saaa-looot!
(Still waiting to hear about evidence in the present case.)
No, it can’t be a Catholic bashing thread. The young men in this case were all older unlike Catholic churches where the priests like them young and nubile.
And the church didn’t cover it up as in common in Catholic churches.
So no, no bashing because they are very different.
The guy is the church of money and women.
“Reformed” is sort of my catch-all term for any Christian group formed in the wake of Luther and Calvin to the present day, as some object to the “Protestant” label.
And sodomy, apparently.
Then he stands before his church and lies his butt off.
Someone has gone through his Google.com records and REMOVED all the photos of him with a younger single woman, or him with a group of young men dressed in racing togs, or even in suits.
He's a county manager ~ there should be a lot of shots of him with such people, even if the pictures are just of him presenting an award to a great employee, or meeting a delegation of JAYCEES or something.
He doesn't even have a picture of him with a family pet, and particularly with with a gerbil.
The fact this cleansing has been done suggests that somebody knows something about Coons he doesn't want the public to know.
This preacher and Coons are both well known Democrats ~ the truth could be very ugly!
Shameless.
These people do more to harm the Kingdom of God than any atheists or pagans. The funny thing, however, is how gullible people are. I recall when Jimmy and Tammy and the PTL Club were on television every morning. My son - just five years old - would watch Bugs Bunny but the PTL show was on right before so he’d just watch the last few minutes of that show - he did that every morning. One day he came up to me and said, “Mommy, that Jimmy and Tammy say they love Jesus but all they talk about is money.” My five year old son saw through them. Meanwhile, adults just send in the dough.
I hope you are not assuming I am anti-religion because I denounced this guy. I’m following the story pretty closely, he is very dicey. I personally suspect he is guilty as a heart attack but time will tell.
While you’re busy goring someone else’s ox, someone gored your own. Life unfolds that way sometimes.
BTW, I don’t know this guy from Adam. And, I like your church, even though I’m not a member. But, is this, um, “megachurch” bigger than yours? Must be huge.
I don’t think he started it; he just made a response. I agree, however, that this thread is about phoney-baloneys - no matter what denomination they come from - tey are destroyers.
Call it what you want, facts are facts.
I don’t support this “preacher” anymore than I do the Catholic church on this subject.
What is that good news?
