NEW JERSEY (WPIX) — A freshman at Rutgers University is believed to have committed suicide after he was secretly taped by two other students during a sexual encounter, police said. The video was allegedly broadcast on the internet.

I'm living that down myself, and not even out of my forties. It sickens me sometimes, how cruel I've been. Especially when I was so certain I was right. Usually was, too, a small consolation in an ugly aftermath. I try to be mindful of forgiveness when confronting sin now, asking it for my own past and present, and giving it to others. The things that have tumbled out of my mouth, and the harm I've caused when trying to help. Lord knows I meant well at the time. I'm living and learning, and it ain't pretty looking back at times.
I could not agree with you more. VERY SAD.
We did need him. He was a brilliant concert violinist. He probably thought his future career in music was irreparably damaged.
The Christians on here don’t give much thought to the Eighth Commandment: “Thou shalt not bear false witness againbst thy neighbor.” According to the Catholic catechism, this Commandment forbids not only the sin of slander (publishing a lie about someone), but also forbids the sin of contumely, publishing a fact about a person which will irreparably harm his reputation, and doing it purely out of maliciousness.

People are free to embrace the morality taught in the bible here.
You are trying to equate acknowlegement of the young man's sin with some sort of fear of him.
People are not celebrating his death. But they are pointing out the roll his sin played in it. The bible does that too.
When you were a young, confused, fumbling 18-year-old, you were filmed having sex with another boy at a family reunion?
Humiliation caused him to jump. Pure and simple.
If he sinned, does he not deserve love and guidance? He didn’t have it fast enough to save his life. His death is a shame. He was obviously a bright, achieving young man or he wouldn’t have been accepted.

Importance Of Instruction On This Commandment
The great utility, nay the necessity, of carefully explaining this Commandment, and of emphasising its obligation, we learn from these words of St. James: If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man; and again, The tongue is indeed a little member, and boasteth great things. The offender, on the other hand, deterred by a perverse shame and a false idea of what is called honour, cannot be induced to make reparation to him whom he has offended.
This Commandment Should Call Forth Our Gratitude
Hence the faithful are to be exhorted to thank God as much as they can for having given this salutary Commandment, not to bear false witness, which not only forbids us to injure others, but which also, if duly observed, prevents others from injuring us.

I have not a clue what that means. If you want to clarify so I understand your meaning, fine. If not, enjoy your - well, whatever it is you enjoy, since it certainly isn't communicating clearly.
That depends on who is doing the teaching. It also says that Jesus was writing in the dirt. I have long heard that it's thought he was writing the names of the Pharisees girlfriends. And no, that's not a joke.
However, that isn't even the point. The story says that they dragged the woman before Jesus. Where was the dude? He was also guilty of adultery. It was a hypocritical setup by the Pharisees to trap Jesus. They didn't care about the adultery. They wanted Jesus' head.
None of us is qualified to condemn another for his sin.
Repentant sinners most certainly ARE to tell others the difference between right and wrong. That's called judging. Condemnation is God's job. The two words are not interchangeable. If we aren't to judge then you cannot say that Mother Theresa was good but Bin Laden is bad.
What should be our response to his death?
Real love tells the truth even if it's hurtful. Lies kill. The left lies about homosexuality. There is no love in the lies. Nor in ignoring truth.
Yup. That's the truth. So what does that have to do with law enforcement?

Obviously we have Freepers here who are using this young man's suicide to justify a racially motivated attack on his nonwhite tormentors. /sarc
Many people on this thread are ignoring the fact that if this young man had not engaged in same sex acts, he would be alive today.
Institutions of “higher education” are now culturally accepted as places where “kids” go to classes part of the time and act like sluts the rest of the time. Obviously not each and every young person there, but it’s not only accepted, but encouraged.
They say there is - legally speaking.
His death by his own hand is irrevocable.
And it does not justify the lynch mob here, clamboring for two equally young people to be locked away for a long time because they didn’t forsee the possibility of his suicide.
The same people, I might add who are so vocal about the supposed mercilessness of others.
This young man couldn't get past being caught in a homosexual act. The shame and guilt drove him to suicide. The two that taped him will feel guilt for the rest of their lives.
That's 3 young people who made wrong choices and paid (and will continue to pay) a heavy price for them.

I see the brilliance of your position now. The webcam cause the person filmed to have homosexual sex. He never decided to, he was compelled from outside.
Those two classmates were truly diabolical. If your lynch mob can get them locked away, you will be saving humanity.

Molly and especially Ravi looked more sophisticated and smart asses.
They knew this would really hurt him and probably destroy him. This was clearly an Eighth Commandment. Molly and Ravi are evil people.
