West Virginia Senate: Raese (R) Eases Ahead of Manchin (D)
Rasmussen Reports ^ | September 28, 2010

Republican John Raese has edged ahead of West Virginia’s popular Democratic Governor Joe Manchin for the first time in the state’s special U.S. Senate race.

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely West Virginia Voters finds Raese earning 48% support to Manchin’s 46% when leaners are included. Two percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

These findings move the contest from Solid Democratic to a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 Senate Balance of Power rankings.

Oops!

This proves the last poll was not an outlier. RCP will move its average from blue to red. Still a toss-up, but the Dems must be despondent knowing that this safe seat is trending the wrong way.

Every dime that was spent in Delaware would be better spent here. Not only can Raese win, if he does win, he will likely be Senator for a very long time.

So Manchin is/was the “wildly” popular Governor of WV. I’ve also seen “very” and “extremely” used. Did he do something inparticular to fall off the popular band wagon? Or is it simply the “D” that’s killing him?

I’m extremely bullish on our chances in Novmember, but this one shocks even me.

How great it would be to see the former Byrd seat fall to a conservative businessman!

West Virginians HATE Obama. Obama’s disapproval rating in West Virginia is one of the highest in the Nation. Fully 72% of West Virginians disapprove of Obama.

I think the realization that if elected senator, he will do whatever Obama, Pelosi, Reed ‘n Co. tell him to do. The myth of the blue dog/moderate democrat is getting busted. Remember how we thought Stpak would save us from Obamacare??? yeah same thing here

That's not Robert Byrd's seat! That's the People's Seat!

Great news.

Go, Raese.

The leftists will have to be put in straitjackets if “Robert Byrd’s seat” goes R following “Teddy Kennedy’s seat” having done so.

_______

It’s not a zero sum game. For every dime spent in Delaware is not one less dime spent in W. VA. The climate is good to win almost everywhere. I’m not throwing in the towel in Delaware, neither should you.

And I agree! That's why I said former Byrd seat.

Nobody despises Byrd like me. He has given the Sophia area, where we both are from, a bad name.

It’s the the big D.

If he goes from WV to DC he changes parties from West Virginian to Democrat.
