Its the electorate, stupid!
A testy U.S. Sen. John F. Kerry yesterday blamed clueless voters with short attention spans for the uphill battle beleaguered Democrats are facing against Republicans across the nation.
We have an electorate that doesnt always pay that much attention to whats going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or whats happening, Kerry told reporters after touring the Boston Medical Center yesterday.
Conservative political blogger William Jacobson, who writes Legal Insurrection, immediately pounced on Kerrys comments, saying that attitude is why voters are looking to shake up Capitol Hill by electing upstart candidates such as U.S. Sen. Scott Brown.
It just continues the Democrats theme that the reason people are upset is because they dont understand. Theyre not smart enough. That sort of rhetoric just gets people even more upset, said Jacobson.
Democratic consultant Phil Johnston, former chairman of the state party, jumped to Kerrys defense, saying, Thats absurd. Hes just making the point that people have real lives to lead and most people are not spending a lot of time worrying about politics, particularly in a tough economy. Ive known John Kerry for 35 years and he doesnt look down on people.
Kerry made the remarks on voters following questions about U.S. Rep Barney Franks re-election campaign and queries about securing federal funding for the Hub hospital.
I think a lot of the anger today - while its appropriate because Washington is broken - is not directed at the right people, said Kerry. Barney is prepared, as others are, to explain what were doing. I think when people hear the facts and they see what were doing, it frankly makes sense.
In the interview, Kerry added that voters should be mad at stonewalling Republicans and big money in politics instead, referring to a bill blocked by Republicans Thursday that would reveal corporate and union leaders who fund big-bucks political ads.
He went on to blame the legislative logjam in Washington, D.C., for fewer federal dollars sent to the state.
John Feehery, a Washington D.C.-based Republican consultant, said Kerrys comments mark yet another embarrassing stumble for the gaffe-prone senior senator. In 2006, the former presidential candidate had to apologize for a statement he made at a California college that U.S. students who did not study hard and stay in school would end up stuck in Iraq.
I think that arrogance sums up why John Kerry didnt get elected president, Feehery said. Hes out of touch.
Slogans like, say, "Hope and change."?
Slogans like, say, "Free healthcare."?
Slogans like, say, "It's Bush's fault."?
Slogans like, say, "A 'right' to affordable housing."?
LOL!! Keep talking Lurch!
Calling your potential voters stupid is a sure way to make friends — for Conservatives!
Some of the misinformation is spread or ignored by the press which votes 90% democratic.
Yes, like "hope and chnage you can believe in." So Kerry has a point, but the electorate is getting educated very fast thanks to the actions of 0bummie and leftists like Kerry.
Well then, John F’n Kerry, would you also consider the voting results of November 2008 a reflection of your observation that voters are uninformed?
MaObama’s great victory in 2008, and the Democrats arrogant disregard for our needs, has awakened a sleeping giant. And he has a TERRIBLE resolve!
The vicious Demagogues like Kerry, Obama, & co. could not exist without their simpleton slogans, which all amount to
somethin’ fur nothin’
for all of their politically favored feeders at the trough
We have an electorate that doesnt always pay that much attention to whats going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or whats happening, Kerry told reporters

And the best one of all time...yes we can, yes we can, yes we can...
We have an electorate that doesnt always pay that much attention to whats going on so people are influenced by a simple slogan rather than the facts or the truth or whats happening,
Oh, like electing 0bambi and “Hope and Change”.
Kerry has been sitting too close to Biden and the stupidity has been transmitted.
Did he say this from the poop deck of Kerry's yacht?
Lord Kerry Fauntleroy of New England has lived the high life with the money plundered from the Heinz heirs so long that he does not understand anyone outside of the country club. His tone-deaf outlook was apparent during his campaign when he was putting on that weird bunny/astronaut suit just days before the election when he wasn’t donning a rubber unitard and windsurfing rather than campaigning. The tanning bed is frying his brain cells.
Frenchie is such a schmuck.
and my all time favorite..”Yes We Can!”
Remember when he won? When his crowd of worshipers chanted; “WE WANT PIE.....WE WANT PIE......WE WANT PIE...”
The whole scene was frightening indeed!
thats a lousy excuse from dem consultant. Kerry said ppl were uninformed and consultant said ppl aren’t paying attention because they’re busy.
If the 2nd is true then they wouldn’t be voting against the DEM. Kerry isn’t saying they’re busy, he’s saying they are paying attention and they’re uninformed e.g lied to, stupid etc
I read a comment from a supporter which read “This isn’t a campaign, it’s a movement!” and I thought, for what? This guy isn’t saying anything. From that point on I knew his followers were morons for sure.
kerry dig himself further by accusing ppl of believing simple slogans. He’s definately looking down at ppl
John Kerry DOES look down on people. That’s why he wasn’t elected President! The American people are not stupid!
People are realizing just how expensive FREE health care is!!
ve known John Kerry for 35 years and he doesnt look down on people.
Except from the bridge of his yacht.
