RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) A Christian event on Saturday for Fort Bragg soldiers and members of the surrounding area is unconstitutional and should be canceled, according to a national watchdog group.
Americans United for the Separation of Church and State said in a statement Thursday that the planned event a concert and other activities called "Rock the Fort" improperly enlists the military in a bid by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association to win Christian converts.
The Charlotte-based ministry has sponsored similar events on military bases around the country. According to the BGEA's website, Saturday's event in Fayetteville is different because civilians as well as military personnel will be able to attend.
"Chaplains at the fort identified 20 churches in the area where most soldiers are involved," the site says. "The churches are now walking alongside chaplains from Fort Bragg, hosting training and praying for this event." aith while serving in the Army.

Millions of prayers a day go out on behalf of the Military. I guess this group would like to ban those as well.
Here's the link to this the Americans United hate group website: http://www.au.org/
I believe Romans 1:23 (I think) sums it up succinctly...”Professing to be wise, they were fools.”
Aren’t military personnel allowed personal time - with which they can exercise their 1st amendment rights?
You were close...it’s Romans 1:22. ;)
It’s past time Americans put a stop to this BS protests everytime a Christian event is scheduled!
These militant secularist busybodies should mind their own damned business.
no kidding
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” So seems like to me the concert should be able to go on as it is not unconstitutional accorrding to our Constitution- unless there is another clause of the Constitution this so called group is refrencing
Especially when millions of our tax dollars are being spent by this government to reach out to Islam!! Where are the separation of Islam and state protests?
Their heads would explode if they found out that Jefferson went to church on Sundays in the House of Representatives. LOL
They're either liars - its just Christians they hate - or they're cowards.
Personally I think its a little of both.
That was ‘then’, this is now...
They need to just go away and leave the Military alone!
Bragg is the home of the 82nd Airborne, a Ranger or SF unit, and if I recall correctly, part of the Delta Force.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Patriots all. They are free to choose their extracurricular activities. God is already welcome there.
The military often holds morale-building events such as concerts on posts. To discriminate against such an event only because it is religious in nature would be a violation of the 1st Amendment.
Durn, better break out my Bible!
I agree. And if you ask me the left could use a little religion or maybe a lot of religion :)
Don’t these losers have anything better to do?
This "peaceful" revolution to take America back is cool but...
You did good!
