Elizabeth Warren: First Amendment Right 'Scares Me', Needs 'Dialing Back'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/23/2010 5:40:46 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Remember the MSM brouhaha when some conservatives suggested reconsidering the automatic granting of citizenship to children born in the US to illegal immigrants? Suddenly, the sanctity of the 14th Amendment became the single most precious thing to liberals—even though no amendment of it, let alone its abolition, would have been necessary to revise the policy on birthright citizenship.

So should we expect the liberal media to take up its constitutional cudgel against Elizabeth Warren? After all, Pres. Obama's newly appointed [not nominated] head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau went on Morning Joe today and in effect proclaimed that the right to petition government for the redress of government "scares" her. More disturbingly, Warren suggested we need to work on "dialing back" that right.

This is the typical Leftist professor whom stupid American parents pay to indoctrinate their children to hate the USA.
We would be a better country if the universities were converted to trade schools where students were trained to earn a living in the real world. Professors such as Dunn and Warren and Obama’s coven of czars would starve to death in that world, another plus.

If yall ever get a chance, read the fellow-craft chapter of Albert Pike’s Morals and Dogma. The book is not an easy read, but that chapter discuss a lot of what we are going through now and what we may expect if things don’t change. Very insightful, even if it was written a hundred years ago.

The First Amendment has been around for 220 years. Name one crisis it has created in those years.

I pity the poor kid who goes to school to learn complex mathematics, electrical egineering, or physics and walks away with a meaningless degree. He doesn't even know how to think, was given minimal training in his chosen field, and has only been indoctrinated to rely on government.

it’s not clear to me that the right to petition government for the redress of grievances was considered to rise to the level of a God-given right.

Oh really? So you believe that if the 1st Amendment were repealed you'd no longer have the Right to petition your Government for a redress of your grievances?

Do you feel the same way about the 2nd Amendment or the 8th Amendment?

If it weren't considered by our Founders to be a Right which is God given why would they 'enumerate' (look it up) that specific Right where they did the way they did?

I'd suggest that if these things aren't 'clear' to you that you take up another line of work because if you honestly believe that the Government can take these things away from us we don't need you on our side.

Thanks,

L

it’s not clear to me that the right to petition government for the redress of grievances was considered to rise to the level of a God-given right.

mho - a war was waged, a civil war, one of several civil wars on this nation's soil called a Revolution because government would not address grievances, by the people. Anytime grievances are not addressed, by governing, toward a people have not been addressed, the God-given rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness has suffered. Throughout history, the end result was unimagined conflict. Are grievances against a government a God-given right? In all conviction and fortitude, there is another God-given right of when that government does not respond to grievances, of the people, it is that people's right to alter or abolish that government.

These rights are being witnessed today in the TEA party movement. Let me state all movements are dangerous, but this one has been beyond peaceful. Now will the politicians listen or pose their grievances upon the people? I think many would believe this is not a moment for action from the governing nor the governed, because every action is always met with an opposite and equal reaction. God granted rights to each side. The governing have began their actions decades ago. The governed have begun their actions. Yes, things and actions can quickly spiral out of control, but God grants men and women choices. The people (governed) are making choices as are the governing.

Where will the TEA party movement take America? Ask God, for only God knows. I pray and believe God loves this nation and thus far God has not destroyed our nation. Will God destroy our nation? My request is God be asked, I am but a mere born-free American citizen.

Sincerely,

Citizen govenment is dead until it is revived. The grade schools are overun with global warmers and other socialist power agendas, and The Big Three universities have churned out these marxists, having become as dangerous to freedom and the republic as the imam temples. It is an outrage, of course, but so very little is being done to take back our schools even locally, which are being used by academia as breeding grounds for socialist thought, and to make smaller versions of the powerful socialist universities. The founding documents are a punch line. Where are conservatives on school boards, and in universities?

Guess that’s why they did not want confirmation hearings.
Hard to believe a daughter of Oklahoma could say that.
