I can't figure out Glenn Beck.
On the one hand, you could argue he is doing more to educate the American public about the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the nation's founding principles than anyone else in media today.
On the other hand, you could argue that he makes sweeping statements that seem to stand those principles on their head such as when he argued with Bill O'Reilly that "same-sex marriage" wouldn't hurt America.
On the one hand, you could argue he is inspiring more Americans for the need to return to God and faith than anyone else in America today.
On the other hand, you could argue that his political advice is moving strongly in a libertarian and materialistic direction and away from the eternalprinciples and precepts of a more traditional conservatism.
Beck is so popular and his fans so devoted that they don't allow much room for constructive criticism from friendlies who recognize the value of much of what he has to offer.
And few conservatives vying themselves for TV face time and access are willing to chide Beck when he needs it, because he is a celebrity of immense power and influence.
I guess that's where I come in.
I guess that's why God invented me.
I guess that's the unique position He has bestowed upon me as someone who recognizes everyone needs accountability in their lives and also recognizes the danger of a movement dependent on charismatic celebrity leaders.
(Column continues below)
Let's talk specifics here for a moment. Let's compare and contrast the two Becks.
Here he is last month in an exchange with Bill O'Reilly:
O'Reilly: "Do you believe that gay marriage is a threat to the country in any way?"
Beck: "A threat to the country?"
(Excerpt) Read more at wnd.com ...
I saw that segment.
Beck DIDN'T say that.
Except Beck is a libertarian and that was not exactly how he said, I know I watched the interview, he said he had other issues to cover, he is letting other people take on social issues, he feels getting people back to the constitution and God is where his drive is going.........
If you don’t like Beck, you’re a pinko?
If you don’t like Beck, you’re a pinko?
exactly.......in context
So if it’s WND’s job ... then preach the Word, stop judging people and let the Word do it’s work!
Glenn Beck is right. He’s not judging, that’s God’s work.
Beck’s done a lot of good for this country. Perfect no, he’s the first to admit it.
He’s not sticking his nose in other people’s business. He’s not a preacher either.
ahahaha
He seems to have an inflated confidence of himself as God’s chosen mouthpiece -
EGO, thy name is Joe Farah
Farah jumped the shark years ago only nobody told him.
Farah's under the delusion that he's still relevant.
pissant must be lonely tonight. Enough to dredge up this again.
Farah hates mormons (which you are aware of)and hating Beck is just a bi-product of that.
Farah hates mormons? I had no idea. I can imagine him thinking they are a cult, though.
all year long we hear this scary scenario about depression, hyperinflation, marxism, communism, the taking over of American private business etc etc...
but he equivicates on coming to support candidates...
he's slimy that way....
the truth is this:...Democrats are all EVIL and anti-American....pubs can be that way too....Bloomberg,Castle,Murk....
but this year we need to take back Senate and the House and pick up some state houses and we need the so called conservative radio pundits to come out strong..
with Beck its all about the Money....his money.....
Some of the otherwise more intelligent people out there are for same-sex marriage.
I think it is idiotic, you are just pushing this society along the lines of total gender segregation.
And while I am not advocating dissolving society as it stands there is increasingly less respect for nuclear families and more for “individuals” who spend their whole lives apart from the opposing gender.
Then and now that was really not that normal unless you were a nun.
As for Beck,he is an accomplished author along with being a decent Statesman. He is kind of overly enthusiastic and he is more of what you’d call a Bush conservative without actually asking for more Government intervention in our lives.
I don’t think he is all that libertarian on immigration or on drugs for that matter and thankfully he is pro-life right?
Beck is for social justice...
Hes a universalist...
Liberation Theology...
His Fridays show was full of it...
“Dont talk of Jesus as the Son of God” ???
WHHHHAAAAAAAATTTT ??????????????
You deny the Son you deny the Father...
A real Christiasn doesnt go on national TV and question the deity of the LORD Jesus Christ..
Beck demotes Jesus to a man merely equal to Ganhdi, moses, and Mr Martin Luther King...
Beck claims they were here to run a revolution..
Ever read the Bible, Glenn ????
I’m amazed that Farah would feel it necessary to be so meek in his criticisms of Beck. Beck is fine on some points, completely wrong on others (gay marriage). He’s an effective speaker, but he is certainly no mental giant.
Mr Martin Luther King should have been Dr Martin Luther King...
Well put. It has been a long time since I tuned in for Mr. Melodramatic.
