The crash of Sweden's long-ruling Social Democrats to their worst defeat since 1914 highlights the decline of socialist parties in much of Europe, drained by social change, economic crisis and the rise of new issues.

...

Socialists' long-standing support for European unification, religious tolerance and integrating immigrants has made them vulnerable to right-wing populists like the Sweden Democrats, Geert Wilders' Dutch Freedom Party or France's National Front.

The anti-immigrant "Sweden Democrats" went from zero seats to 20 seats and holding the balance of power in Parliament after yesterday's election.

Runaway spending, perceived future national bankruptcy (in a Europe which well remembers what happened when Germany went bust in the early 30's), and increasing anger over the increasing Islamization of Europe are coming to a head.

Probably too late to forestall a civil war in Europe.

You mean another one? What’s another European war anyway. They have to get at least one in per century.

Better a civil war than an unopposed Muslim takeover.

This article really misses the boat. It blames the left for being in favor of deregulation and calls Tony Blair’s government market friendly? You have got to be kidding.

The truth is just the opposite. These leftists are strangling their economies and making everyone equally poor - except those in power, of course.

Whoever wrote this article is a loon.

Sweden Democrats fear Islamic Revolution in Sweden
“Yes, Sweden is being Islamified right now. We’ve taken up countless examples of how Sweden is adapting to Muslim demands and we’re seeing how mosques are popping up like mushrooms from the ground in Sweden and all over Europe. It’s not necessarily the case that we’ll all become Muslims, but that we will have to obey Sharia,” Söder said.

“Through Muslim immigration and rapid propagation, as well as through Turkey’s membership in the EU, Europe can become dominated by Muslims.”

The theory of a so-called “Eurabia” has been roundly rejected by scholars of Islam, who compare it to anti-Semitic views of an international Jewish conspiracy.

The article says:

In countries such as Britain, France and Germany, where the center-left was in government in the early 2000s, it is regarded by many voters as having been a zealous accomplice in financial deregulation and economic liberalism.
Translation: from the viewpoint of the radical socialists, the "center left"(Europe's moderate left) is being blamed as having sold out socialism. Just as we're pissed at RINOs, the European radical Left is pissed at their moderates, however Leftist their moderates may appear to us.

Most european left has moved to cut taxes for big business and privatizations. For example, the corporate tax in Germany has been slashed in half in last decade, when social democrats ruled the ministry of finance (1998-2009). The tax burden in Scandinavia is among the lowest too. They have massively replaced the class warfare principles for modern “progressive” issues: abortion, gays, feminism, multiculturalism... Pissing the most ideological left-wing electorate (the far left is growing too). At the same time they have lost many voters who are low-skilled native workers, frightened by massive immigration. In Denmark, the most voted party among low-skilled workers is the right-wing populist Dansk Folkeparti, not social democrats anymore.

Then you have only 5 left-wing governments in the European Union: Austria (grand coalition), Portugal, Spain, Slovenia and Greece.

I meant that the tax burden ON CAPITAL in Scandinavia is among the lowest. On labor and consumption is still very high.

and integrating immigrants

Europe, and us for that matter, would not have nearly as many problems if immigrants actually integrated into the existing society.

They realize they have a choice: if they cripple business, they cannot fund a massive welfare state.

A European may be able to integrate into another European society. A Muslim cannot really become a Frenchman or an Englishman without giving up Islam. A central aspect of Islam is that a Muslim's loyalty is to Islam and other Muslims, never to the infidel country he happens to reside in.

For a true Muslim, he is only residing in an infidel society, he is never PART OF that society.

If we do, we ought to do it to put the degenerated, savage inhabitants on reservations and to colonize the land.

Probably too late to forestall a civil war in Europe.

That Rubicon was passed sometime back.

My concern is that 2 years of 0 and his merry band of fascists have made that outcome inevitable here.

IMO, Reid and the DREAM attachment are the Dem's way of saying they are willing to see blood spilled rather than abide by the rights and wishes of the people. It's now brinkmanship. The Republicans are going to fold.

Lots of talk about economics and nobody mentions the elephant in the room - no, it isn’t Islam, it’s the accession to power of an entrenched multicultural elite who allowed the problem in the first place and continue to prevent a solution of any sort. The problem isn’t the bearded youth who considers uncovered women fair game for assault and rape, it’s the government whose members refuse to punish him. The problem isn’t “Islamophobia” or “hate” speech, it’s the government that has taken upon itself to punish free speech in the futile hope of not offending. The problem isn’t a takeover that’s impending, it’s one that has already happened.
