That is just it. She is NOT the best candidate to be POTUS/CINC. Both Barbour and Daniels for example as sitting Governors are better prepared.

She is a great for our party. She is great for messaging. She is very popular among segments of the base...That does not mean she is the best person to be POTUS/CINC.

She will be much easier to defeat than would a Daniels or Barbour, IMO. For Obama. Her negatives are already high. There is a segment of the population that won't give her another honest look (wrongly so, but it is there).

Think of what an incoherent C. Gibson did to her in a back and forth session (not to mention Couric). Obama would likely do very well Vs her in a debate. Just from a stylistic stand point (even though he would be lying and telling half-truths all along). Palin tends to look to have a quick answer without thinking to the questions asked, quite often I find myself noticing. That will not play well over the course of a campaign.

Where did I say I wanted to appease the liberal media?

In a coarser way, I'm saying that while we conservatives love her, she's damaged goods in a general election. It's not fair to her but it's the truth. She doesn't poll well outside the conservative base because the media has spent the past two years villifying her.

2012 is way too important to put up a candidate we aren't sure will win. I'd personally rather use a conservative with most of Palin's policy positions but without the baggage of two solid years of media bashing.

Most Americans don't know Jim DeMint or Paul Ryan or Mike Pence. They do know Sarah Palin and most think she's the half-term governor of a distant state who's a dunce with a knocked-up daughter because that's the way she is portrayed.

It's not at all fair but that's how most non-conservatives see her. The election environment may not be so GOP-friendly in 2012 as it is now so we need somebody we can package and sell to an open-minded electorate as a fresh face, not one they've already rejected once.

RE :”If she is the best candidate.. vote for her and let the chips fall where they may.

IF??? You have posted many times that she is the only candidate. If she announces she is not running sometime next year, do you think that would be acceptable? (short a personal serious illness like cancer)? Wouldn't that be letting the country down?
