She wore a dress to a very somber occasion that looked like something you’d wear to a backyard BBQ or outdoor bar/cocktail party, or a community outdoor summer dance at a city park or garden or graduation party. The dress had an orange background with a big, splashy, red, green and black print on it. It had a puffy, full skirt with a fitted, plunging, v-neck bodice. It was sleeveless, with halter-top type straps rising from the bodice that tied or buttoned behind the neck. Picture it. Got it?

The occasion: the official bestowal of a posthumous Congressional Medal of Honor on a family for their son killed in the Middle East.

Mrs Obama debuted a new floral frock in a bold, red rose print, accessorized with green kitten heels and chandelier earrings.

It's actually a good look for her, but it was ludicrously inappropriate for this solemn and dignified occasion. Maybe it would have been worse if she had gone dressed as a clown or a Mujahadeen, but this was pretty bad.

Her handlers simply have no sense of what is correct attire for a given event - except on the following, glorious occasion, where they hit the nail right on the head.
