You know, even if you're right, I tell you what else we did. We handed abject fear to establishment Republicans. And that's worth its weight in gold, in my book.

100% right. And that is the point that many don't seem to understand. This race will have significant implications for how the Republicans behave in office. They can no longer be stealth enemies of conservatism. They either have to start acting like conservatives, or go into open warfare with the electorate.

And that is worth far more than one single Senate seat.

Exactly. Like many people have said on here, I worry about what the GOP will do if it regains power—if it pulls the same stunts that got us in this mess, we are in deep deep trouble.

We need a strong opposition party.

Well stated. O'Donnell isn't exactly my poster child for what I'm looking for in a candidate, but there is a broader point here. There is a tremendous amount of anger right now - that cuts across party lines, I believe - from people who work in the private sector, pay their taxes, play by the rules, and are mad as hell about the out of control Federal spending and the Obama theme of "personal responsibility is for losers, no financial problem is your fault, and I'm from the government and we're here to help". We aren't looking to elect RINOs who will cut Obama's spending increases from 15% to 10% and declare victory. I'm looking for the next Ronald Reagans. If that makes me some sort of "right-wing" nut, so be it.

Though I think she can win, your post is 100% dead on.

My email to info@nrsc.org:

So,

You’ll help that democrat Kirk get elected in Ill, but you won’t help O’Donnell in DE? Even if the balance of power in the Senate is at stake?

Way to express your values: I never want to hear that TEA party Conservatives don’t care about the ‘big tent’ again.

It is YOU that has the small tent. Remember that ‘listening tour’ y’all were going to be doing last year? Delaware has spoken. Are you listening?

We are speaking. We are taking our Party BACK from Y.O.U. Are you listening?

Can you hear us now?

Tell Cornyn that his turn is coming. . .
