As a Florida resident, a conservative and someone who cares about the redistricting which the new governor will have great power in drawing up in 2011, I must answer this question: will the long-term interests of conservatism in FL be better served by Scott or by Sink? As many doubts as I have over Scott, there is no question about who would be bettter. It is Scott, hands down.
Bill McCollum lost because he was deaf to the outcry against the invasion of illegal aliens across our SW border, not because he did not explain himself well. Weeks ago, the day Bill McCollum opposed the AZ 1050 bill, I wrote US Rep. Connie Mack, who is my friend, and told him that State AG McCollum would lose the primary. The rest is history.
The AG was leading by double digits the day before his foolish public announcement of opposition to the AZ law and he immediately dropped in the polls ultimately to lose the primary. So neither he, nor anyone else, can accurately blame ideologues for his own demise at the ballot box.
Those endorsements included Sarah Palin and the Susan B. Anthony List, hardly folks that tolerate RINO's.
As to her stated positions, the include the following: restoring water to the farms of the Central Valley (even if it means a few more Delta Smelt get chewed up in the pumps), support for 2nd Amendment rights, support for the death penalty, opposition to the legalization of marijuana, opposition to the President's deadline to start removing troops from Afghanistan, strong support for Israel, opposition to abortion, opposition to same sex marriage, opposition to amnesty for illegal aliens, opposition to cap and trade, opposition to card check, support for (and execution of) the Tax Reform Taxpayer Protection Pledge by which she promised that she will not vote for any new or increased taxes, support for open enrollment and charter schools, and opposition to Obamacare.
Folks, if those are the positions of a RINO, the definition of the term has lost all meaning.
