So are we allowed to burn Justice Breyer's new book, "Making Democracy Work"?

Here's an interesting review from the WSJ, In New Book, Justice Breyer Takes it Straight to Justice Scalia. From the article,

.....Judging from this NPR story, the book is less an explanation of Breyer’s thought about judging than it is a rather full-throated attack on “originalism,” the constitutional theory most famously espoused by Justice Antonin Scalia........

so he’s saying (compared to shouting fire and people will die)
that burning a koran should not be allowed due to the fact people could die.

So what we have here is a flake of a judge and an American caving in like the cowards they are to islam due to them being afraid of them.
OK so if Christians now go on rampages and kill people does this mean no more making fun of Christians and no more putting crosses in piss?

“Holmes said it doesn’t mean you can shout 'fire' in a crowded theater,” Breyer told me. “Well, what is it? Why? Because people will be trampled to death. And what is the crowded theater today?

So the result of this is that if you want to have the banning of speach to be legitimized, then all you have to do is get violent when someone does or says something you don't like.

The obvious response to this is to get violent when a flag is burned. Get violent when someone blasphemes Jesus or Moses or God.

Aren't these supreme court idiots supposed to be able to think things through before they speak?

So apparently the new standard of “free” speech would be that you’re not allowed to say anything that would upset someone enough that they would commit criminal acts? So speech would be protected only if large enough numbers threatened sufficient violence. Somehow I just don’t think our founding fathers had that notion of free speech in mind when they were seeking to protect it from the likes of Breyer and other similar fascists. As a matter of fact, I think just they had just the opposite in mind. Namely, our founders protected free speech precisely because it incited the British to do violence against those who spoke freely.

So just threaten to kill and no one will be able to insult you?

This is why the left’s claim that they are the protector of free speech is a joke. They are only concerned with protecting free speech when it’s someone who wants government funds for painting Christ in a jar of urine or when they want to get rid of religious symbols at the local town’s municipal building.

If he were consistent, he would say that burning any religions religious book to include the Bible would be banned, but I doubt he would go that far. Since when is the first amendment subject to whether there will be violence in another country because of it? I’m sure he’s against cartoons depciting Mohommed in an unflattering light also.

On the night of February 16, 1804, Lieutenant Stephen Decatur and 84 volunteers aboard the ketch Intrepid, sailed into the harbor at Tripoli and burned the captured frigate Philadelphia. England's Lord Nelson, the hero of Trafalgar, called Decatur's deed the most daring act of the age.

Seven months later, Captain Richard Somers loaded the Intrepid with gunpowder and sailed into the harbor, determined to destroy the Tripolitan fleet. Before he could accomplish his mission, the Tripolines sighted the Intrepid, opened fire, and blew her up, killing Somers and the entire drew.

Patriots weep.

Maybe after he bans “Jesus in a jar of urine”......or should people just call “burning the Koran” a work of art!

This rule would then ENCOURAGE people who want to stop activity protected by the First Amendment to threaten, and follow through with, violence, in order to get the state to stop the protected speech or conduct complained of.

So instead of sending in the National Guard as Eisenhower did to enforce school desegregation orders, the Obama folks just want to knuckle under to Islam - the Constitution be damned.

Again, I didn’t know that the rights enumerated in the Constitution all had an exception for “if others will respond with violence to your exercise of your rights.”

I sure am glad I’m just an uneducated redneck hick out in flyover country. Only someone like Bryer has enough education to make him this F*#%ING STUPID!!!!!!!!!!

He should be impeached, immediately.

One small step toward Shari’a law in the USA.

Look at all the legal challenges, from stopping us from burning a book, to allowing hijabs to be worn where the company dress code forbids it, to the attempts to silence witnesses (flying imams).

I bet soon muslims wil pray in public schools openly, using the school pa for the call to prayer, while Christians will still be forbidden.

This incident has provided more insight into the diabolical minds of the America-haters than the people threatening to burn a Koran.

what is the crowded theater today?

OMG. If today's internet has become yesterday's theater where we are might excite delicate souls to panic or mayhem, then this country has ceased to exist as a Constitutional republic.

If I want to light my backyard barbecue with pages from the Koran, I have every right to do so.

Let me see if I've got this right: speech that might bring on violence is exempt from free speech? OK, so being blonde, I am so offended by dumb blonde jokes (actually I enjoy them greatly), therefore if people continue to tell blonde jokes, I WILL go unibomber and bomb every comedy club, home or other venue where blonde jokes are told.

So violent thugs would receive our deference because of their threats? I think not.

I would regularly burn a Koran in public if a law of this nature passed, while as much as I despise Islamic extremists, I wouldn’t bother burning that book without a federal law banning free expression that protects this one “religion” differently than it protects any decent religion.
