O'Donnell up 47-44 over Castle, in PPP poll!
Public Policy Polling ^ | 9/12/10 | dfergu7477

Posted on 09/12/2010 6:48:53 PM PDT by dfergu7477

Raleigh, N.C. – It looks like there’s a real possibility of a major upset in the Delaware Senate primary on Tuesday night, with insurgent conservative Christine O’Donnell leading longtime Congressman and Governor Mike Castle 47-44. That 3 point lead is well within the poll’s margin of error. If Castle is indeed defeated Tuesday night it will be yet another sign that conservatives have a strangle hold on the Republican Party and moderates may or may not be welcome anymore. Castle has an overwhelming 69-21 lead with moderate voters but they only make up 33% of the likely primary electorate. O’Donnell has a 62-31 lead with conservatives that’s more than enough to propel her to the overall lead. It’s clear that Castle’s popularity has taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction over the last month. An August PPP poll found his favorability with Delaware Republicans at a 60/25 spread. Now his favorables within the party are negative at 43/47. That’s largely a product of 55% of voters in his party saying they think he’s too liberal compared to 37% who think he’s about right. GOP voters are pretty sharply divided about O’Donnell as well. 45% have a favorable opinion of her with 41% seeing her unfavorably. Only 50% of primary voters think she’s fit to hold public office but she does much better than Castle on the ideology front- 53% think she’s about right. If O’Donnell pulls it out Tuesday night it will be a major victory for Delaware’s small but united group of Tea Party voters. Just 25% of Republicans in the state consider themselves to be members of that movement but they give her a 79-18 advantage that’s more than enough to overcome her 52-39 deficit with everyone else.

I think you’re right. I think Palin changed the momentum.

He still says it. Jim Zabel. He’s 87 and still on the air on WHO-Des Moines.

Get with the program. Your old tired elect any RINO, just to have a seat is the past. It ain’t playing today. Like Jim Demint. I would rather have 30 conservatives, than 60 RINOS. We gave the likes of you the majority with all your RINOs in the house and senate and where did that get us? MINORITY Status!

anything that tends to preserve harry reid as senate majority leader is desperately, horribly wrong. END OF CONVERSATION.

LOL. After Brices postings today, I'll wager Weekly Standard and the Castle people will be looking for a poster with the screen name "Brices Crossroads" for shaming them by shredding their smear piece.

Yeah, didn’t they have Doug Hoffman easily ahead of Scuzzy like days before the election? I don’t trust them.

The way we GOT Harry Reid as majority leader was to elect a GOP majority that stood for little more than trying to maintain a majority.

“Yeah, tip of my hat to you BC. You do a nice job of being pragmatic and rational.

The Castle people are out to get you.

And remember, just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not out to get you.”

Thanks and good luck on Tuesday.

As for the Castle people being out to get me, my strategy is always get them first. With the most.

Lisa Murkowski warned Castle to watch out for Tea Party Express, so Castle started turning up the smears and last week Rush talked very positive about Christine and he has a huge audience. I think RUSH helped her a lot.

Then, Sarah endorsed and like techno said,

“Something magic happens when Palin endorses anybody.”

Thanks, Onyx. You know. I think the other benefit of these Tea Party primary challenges is that we smoke out the enemy. We will know exactly who to look for when these backbenchers try to tee it up against Sarah in 2012. And we will have the opposition research ...on the opposition researchers. LOL

We have tried it your way for decades. It ain’t working.

P.S. I would not worry about Harry. He will soon be on the way out, as well.

How will she change it when she wont win?

Well, it would certainly be nice if O'Donnell goes all the way and wins the Senate seat, but as long as Castle doesn't win it there will be something very positive to smile about. The worst possible outcome would be Castle winning the Senate seat, and thereby getting rewarded for being a backstabbing, liberal, scumbag (ie., true) RINO. Remember - - better to be punched in the teeth by an enemy than knifed in the back by a "friend".

So keep your chin up - - I think Castle is getting retired, one way or the other!

if o'donnell, angle, et. al. lose, then those that are screaming for purity at any cost are going to have a lot to answer for.
