O'Donnell up 47-44 over Castle, in PPP poll!
Public Policy Polling ^ | 9/12/10 | dfergu7477

Raleigh, N.C. – It looks like there’s a real possibility of a major upset in the Delaware Senate primary on Tuesday night, with insurgent conservative Christine O’Donnell leading longtime Congressman and Governor Mike Castle 47-44. That 3 point lead is well within the poll’s margin of error. If Castle is indeed defeated Tuesday night it will be yet another sign that conservatives have a strangle hold on the Republican Party and moderates may or may not be welcome anymore. Castle has an overwhelming 69-21 lead with moderate voters but they only make up 33% of the likely primary electorate. O’Donnell has a 62-31 lead with conservatives that’s more than enough to propel her to the overall lead. It’s clear that Castle’s popularity has taken a sharp turn in the wrong direction over the last month. An August PPP poll found his favorability with Delaware Republicans at a 60/25 spread. Now his favorables within the party are negative at 43/47. That’s largely a product of 55% of voters in his party saying they think he’s too liberal compared to 37% who think he’s about right. GOP voters are pretty sharply divided about O’Donnell as well. 45% have a favorable opinion of her with 41% seeing her unfavorably. Only 50% of primary voters think she’s fit to hold public office but she does much better than Castle on the ideology front- 53% think she’s about right. If O’Donnell pulls it out Tuesday night it will be a major victory for Delaware’s small but united group of Tea Party voters. Just 25% of Republicans in the state consider themselves to be members of that movement but they give her a 79-18 advantage that’s more than enough to overcome her 52-39 deficit with everyone else.

They were the only ones that called it right for Scott Brown if I recall correctly.

I know Rasmussen was way off on Brown. Didn’t even poll the final week.

Actually, that can’t really be proven, but I like that story.

Palin vs the Establishment and Palin wins. Good story I like it.

That contest went into extra innings (worthy of a recount). It’s just that Handel didn’t want to pursue it. But that’s not Palin’s fault.

And Sarah Palin put a big hammer on that nail last week. Another RINO about to go onto the ash heap of history.

As bad as Obama is, the silver lining is that the GOP is really getting some good new congresscritters.

And, of course, they have Sarah Palin.. She wouldn’t be nearly this effective as VP under McCain.

All things work according to God’s plan.

BTTT

“Castle” is McCain’s guy...LOL.

Could this be the Divine Providance that Glenn Beck has been speaking of?

I’m happy with the news but I gotta tell you that analysis was very difficult to follow.

Although as I attempt to summarize...it seems that that those who consider themselves Tea Partiers...only about 25% of Republicans in the liberal state of Delaware and this sounds about right....feel so strongly in favor of O’Donnell and they are the absolute most likely voters in this upcoming Republican primary.

Which is no surprise.

It also seems that O’donnell has a high unfavorable rating, again no surprise as she’s constantly under attack, dear Lord. But Castle’s unfavorables are even higher.

I’d sure like for Castle to be kicked out of there but I’m prepared to be disappointed.

Don’t forget she also murdered her mother.

Don’t let the fact that her mother is still alive deter you from this talking point.

“When O’Donnell LOSES what should have been an easy GOP pickup by Mike Castle, we’ll be sorry...”

So, are you saying that we should nominate anyone who has an (R) next to their name, even if they’re a flaming, left-wing, Mao-loving communist (NOT saying Castle is, but...), just to pick up seats?

Those kind of people back-stab the GOP at every single chance they get and when the crucial votes come up, they almost ALWAYS side with the Democrats! They have no loyalty to the party and/or conservatism! We don’t need those kind of people in DC!

I wanted these results to be at the top of Breaking News. You were good to put it in Breaking News and it usually takes me 5 mins to start a thread.

Great results for Urquhart as well - up by 12%

It is so interesting to see how Palin can sway the vote (giving her some credit). I doubt she ever thought this could be a part of her political career.

Sarah is a smart cookie, and she also tries to do the right thing. It's a good combination.

Earlier, when she retired from the governorship, a lot of Palin fans were hoping she would start running for president. No, I said, she should work on getting good conservatives into the house and senate first, in the midterm election. Time enough to run for president after the coming election, if things went right. I'm glad to see she has played it that was so far.

Romney, Huckabee, and others started running hard for president back then. How'd that work out for them? We don't seem to be hearing much about them recently.

Romney also tried to take credit for a couple of Republican wins last year. There were a lot of talking head who said he'd use his money to push his candidates for congress. We don't seem to be hearing much about that now, either.
