Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

It’s not a question of scrpaing the bottom for dirt. This dirt came to the surface rather quickly. And it is very damaging dirt, at least for those of us who don’t like liberal trial lawyers.

So, for you Delaware Conservatives, is Dan Gaffney really a conservative commentator, or is he a RINO? I’ve never heard him, since I don’t live in the state, but from what I’ve read on the web, before this last two weeks people all seemed to point conservatives to Gaffney as someone to be listened to.

Speaking of which, you all up in Connecticut have that Jim Vicevich guy, right? What's he like?

Rush Limbaugh covered this this past Wednesday. He said he was told that O’Donnell filed this lawsuit against a very, very prestigious conservative think tank.

payback?

Ja wohl, mein Führer!

You think campaign slogans of support are similar to German dictator commands?

I;m sorry....but the Delaware GOP doesn’t get to have it both ways.

They nominated her then and we assume they thought she was okay then. They don’t get to do it over...saying “WELL WE KNEW SHE WOULDN’T WIN”

You’d never let Obamer get away with that.

I have an idea.

Why don’t all the rino GOP establishment types get together in a room and come up with a slogan to disseminate among our useful idiots, that goes:

“Duhh, that candidate can’t win the general, so don’t even vote!”

Sorry, guess they already did. (It shows in your comments and in all the comments against other true conservative candidates.)

““O’Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI’s conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men.”
—Seriously? A supposed conservative suing a conservative group over its conservative philosophy is not troubling to you?”

No.

Considering the fact that a lot of ‘conservative’ men (McConell, Boehner, Graham, McCain, etc., etc.) are a bunch of wussies, while conservative women (Palin, Bachmann, etc.) have cajones, I find something deeply flawed with this group’s so-called “conservative philosophy” on this issue...

She's a shallow fraud. Ever watch her on Fox News? Dumber than a box of rocks.

I would rather have a conservative who is dumber than a box of rocks than a liberal who is smarter than Einstein.

O'Donnell's problem is that she is just a regular person, with zits and skeletons in the closet, just like me, just like you.

Liberals pretend that they are superior to us. RINOs think they are superior to us. You think you are superior to O'Donnell, and obviously you agree with the Libs and RINOs that Castle is smarter than you and me and O'Donnell put together.

Vote for Castle. He knows better than you because he's smarter and better than you.

“THe problem with lying, especially in an official court document, is that if you would lie to a court of law to try to win money, it’s hard for you to argue that you would never lie to get elected.”

The problem with waiting until 2 days before an election to push out inflammatory accusations is....

Do I need to finish this sentence? Do you really trust the GOP insiders more than the outsider O’Donnell campaign? Perhaps we all need to do a little more due diligence before we let our accusations fly.

Sorry, but I think emotion is driving your “thinking” here. O’Donnell can’t win the general. She won’t win the general. All the wishful thinking and whining about “RINOs” and wild-eyed conspiracy theories about how this lawsuit is all just a made-up story by the Delaware GOP to tar her with a bad brush in the world isn’t going to change that fact. She’s lost statewide elections twice before - what makes you think she’s suddenly going to turn into this must-have for the Delaware electorate?

But hey, we’ll know for sure in the first week of November. Be sure to FReepmail me then and remind me so that I can send you a told you so.

“You think campaign slogans of support are similar to German dictator commands?”

No, he doesn’t really.

It’s just that he has nothing of substance. Because he is on the side of the GOP establishment and the rinos, whose only agenda is to keep on controlling our lives, in their role as yes men to the marxists.

Like the marxists, the GOP establishment has nothing real to say.

Problem is TQC - they released it TWO days before the election - not last week or two weeks ago, or a month ago...kind of reminds me of when they released those DWI stories about Bush 2 days before the election...

Don’t like it.

THEN WHY DIDN’T THE DELAWARE GOP VET HER IN 2008? CAUSE THEY NOMINATED HER!!!

Most of the allegations about O'Donnell have come SINCE 2008, and most of them have come from comments O'Donnell HERSELF has made to reliable sources like Dan Gafney and John McCormick.

You can run but you can't hide.

Oh I don’t know. It could be.

This story has been out there for ages.

So why did the Castle campaign (now there’s a man we ought to defend) decide to pull this old saw out two days before the election?

BECAUSE THEY WANT TO DESTROY THE WOMAN!

So she filed a lawsuit? She dropped it. Maybe there was truth to it, maybe not. Believe me, I could have filed suits against plenty of companies in my lifetime, rightfully so. In fact I did once, and I won. Does this somehow make me not eligible to run for a Republican political office?

And notice how quick the hyenas are even on this thread, even on the ultra Conservative Freerepublic, are so quick to allow the Blue Bloods to control their emotions. Notice how quick they jump up and down with their dignity all aflame.

This is old news. I’m sure Mike Castle’s got a slew of stuff that’s gone on in his seventy years.

I thought only Libs could be manipulated like this.
