Citing "Mental Anguish," Christine O'Donnell Sought $6.9 Million in Gender Discrimination Lawsuit
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/12/10 | John McCormack

Posted on 09/12/2010 10:11:56 AM PDT by truthandlife

Court documents obtained Saturday by THE WEEKLY STANDARD reveal surprising new details about the gender discrimination and wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Christine O'Donnell in 2005 against her former employer, the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative non-profit based in Delaware.* O'Donnell, who is now challenging moderate congressman Mike Castle in the September 14 Delaware GOP Senate primary, sought $6.95 million in damages. In a court complaint, she extensively detailed the "mental anguish" she suffered after allegedly being demoted and fired because of her gender. And, although she didn't have a bachelor's degree until this year, O'Donnell implied she was taking Master's degree classes at Princeton University in 2003.

O'Donnell alleged in a July 1, 2005 complaint filed in district court that she had been demoted because ISI's conservative philosophy dictated that women must be subordinate to men. She claimed she was fired when she contacted the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regarding her demotion. ISI told the Delaware News Journal that she had been "terminated for operating a for-profit business."

O'Donnell's finances, honesty, and stability have been called into question in light of her false and strange claims. The court complaint raises further questions on all fronts. O'Donnell, who made an annual salary of $65,000 at ISI as director of communications and public affairs, sought up to $6,952,477 million in damages, claiming, among other allegations, that ISI had defamed her and had violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. O'Donnell sought:

--Up to $3,952,447 in "Direct Damages, including back pay" and "lifetime lost income and liftetime damage to reputation."

The thing that gets me is that so many of these allegations are just false or the type of stuff of he said she said. Where is the dissection of Mike Castle’s lobbyist connections? He has a record and all Christine’s opponents want to talk about is Christine’s personal finances. She did inflate her election results against Biden but she did very well in two of the three Deleware counties which is undeniable and is hardly a disqualifier. If something that small is then Castle is unfit for any office given his history.

They can’t talk the issues and while Christine is flawed she is not fatally flawed but if I could have ignored Castle before I can not be part to thuggery in the name of lifting of the GOP and not conservatism.

“wild-eyed conspiracy theories about how this lawsuit is all just a made-up story by the Delaware GOP”

Your primary argument is that there is no such thing as the GOP establishment, in bed with the socialists, trying to control the lives of the American people.

You now believe RINOs don’t exist.

I will pay you 50$ to stay home on election day, because it’s worth 50$ to me that you not bring any more harm to our country.

Remember - ObuMAO is ‘brilliant.’ Want more of that? “Dumb” and “Brilliant” are apparently in the eye of the beholder oft times. But perhaps you have the corner on intelligence testing through TV viewing...lol...;)

Here is Christine on Bill Maher’s show in 1998 talking about telling the truth:

Fast forward to 4:40 where the topic and conversation begin.

I remember she used to be a frequent guest on his show.

Your worst enemy, and that of every GOP establishment useful idiot on this website, is the truth.

Which includes Christine O’Donnell’s words as documented over the years on youtube.

So, .... Then it appears we have to not only beat the fraud of the DemoRATS, but also the Woody Allen division of the GOP as well.

The RINO infested GOP wants their RINO, and are tired of getting their asses handed to them by the people, the TEA Party, so they are going to spread their trenchcoat, and flash us with their RINO horn.

At least one person here is being sane about this. Some freepers are almost becoming like obama followers...defending any and every flaw as long as the tea party backs the candidate.

Wow. Glad this got out before the primary.

She ran in 2008 against Biden. Why didn't this get out then?

You’d think with all these crimes of O’Donnell if she got elected Senator she’d do something awful like vote for Cap and Trade....

....NO WAIT!

“The Ruling Class doesn’t like her.”

The Ruling Class hates Christine O’Donnell. And if one listens to her own words, recorded over the years on youtube and elsewhere, it’s clear why the Ruling Class hates her.

THis is the first time I said she couldn’t win the general election.

But reading these allegations got me looking at other allegations I had dismissed before out-of-hand because I trusted other freepers.

And now it’s clear to me anyway from these revelations that she can’t win. People hate what the democrats have done, but I don’t see them electing a person who, by her own quotations, has lied repeatedly.

This isn’t about some RINO going after her. As we always said about democrats, they say you are a bad person if you QUOTE THEM. Now we are attacking people for quoting O’Donnell’s own words.

Nobody made O’Donnell claim in 2006 and 2008 that she had completed her undergraduate degree work - a statement she now says was false. Nobody made O’Donnell file a lawsuit, or to say that losing a public relations job drove her to seek professional help.

Nobody forced O’Donnell to claim that Castle supporters were breaking into her house in 2008. Nobody forced O’Donnell to claim that she was enrolled at Princeton in a Master’s program, a claim she now says was not true.

Nobody made O’Donnell claim that she had won 2 our of 3 counties, when she didn’t win any. Nobody made her run a senate campaign in 2008 that still owes money.

Nobody made O’Donnell claim that she only made $5800 on her disclosure forms, but then to brag that she had made a lot more money, but didn’t have to tell anybody about it.

If I judge her based on nothing but her own statements, I am now of the opinion that she could never win an election.

You may think Coons is “really disliked”, but the polls don’t indicate the level of dislike you suggest. And that was before this latest revelation, which may turn a lot more people like me around on the subject.

Castle sucks. But frankly, I no longer hold out any hope for O’Donnell. Sometimes the “best conservative available” is just a really bad candidate.

I tried the whole “head in the sand support” thing on this race. I’m not from Delaware, and I figured that so many people wouldn’t stand up for her if she had really said what she was being said to have said.

But now I believe that too many people are way to quick to dismiss any criticism of candidates they like as “RINO attacks”. I don’t really care if Obama himself says something, if it’s true, it’s true, and pretending it isn’t doesn’t help anybody.

Problem is TQC - they released it TWO days before the election - not last week or two weeks ago, or a month ago...kind of reminds me of when they released those DWI stories about Bush 2 days before the election...

Uh, this wasn't released two days before the election. I've known about this particular issue with O'Donnell for at least a month, and I don't even live in Delaware.

Look, like I said above, I don't support Mike Castle. I hope O'Donnell wins, even though I know she doesn't have a chance in the general. I'll trade a Senate pickup for getting rid of an alpha RINO like Castle. Now, if there was only a way to keep Mark Kirk from winning in Illinois...

>>None of the O’Donnell supporters on this thread seem to be defending her actions in filing this absurd lawsuit.<<

Do we know all of the reasons she brought the law suit? Was there other circumstances that she saw, that by bringing the suit would come out? Were there problems with the organization that she wanted to expose and this suit was lever?

Only the left and weak conservatives will fall for the story as it’s presented.

She had the guts to stand up and take the shots.

"She has a shady history and we’re not talking ancient history,"

She had a "shady" history too in 2008. Yet the DE GOP backed her to run against Biden.

She's shady now but wasn't 2 years ago?
