I don’t like the lines of thinking at all. Cutting social security “for the rich” means they are thinking about it the wrong way in the first place.

Didn’t “the rich” pay into social security? Is that not their money? Who is the government, any government, to say “we took it from you, we promised to give it back at a prescribed time but...well...you made enough money so we’ve decided not to give you your money back”.

If I took a loan from Citibank and decided not to pay them back because...well...they’ve made billions in profit do you think they’d be ok with that?

The conversation should never - ever - be about who decides someone has made enough money. That’s a statist, collectivist line of thinking in the first place and will invariably lead down a terrible path.

Exactly. Why is no one talking about the welfare freeloaders who can work like everyone else, but simply choose not to? They've never done anything for anyone. They've never contributed anything. WHY are we supporting these people, and why is no one talking about getting rid of this waste? It costs billions each year for these people to sit home on their lazy butts and contribute - absolutely NOTHING
