Do you really believe burning someon’s religious book, an honorable thing to do? I think it’s petty and a pretty middle-ages sort of mob mentality thing.

Colson uses the same Bible passage (from 1Peter) that I posted in a response to an article about this Pastor yesterday. It may seem to "honor" God by defending His word against the actions of "the ungodly"--but this Pastor is doing what is NOT taught in the New Testament. Surely the Apostle Paul understood how easy it was, as a Pharisee, to attack those who did not believe the same as he did--in fact, he was a member of the same group who--thinking to defend their established religion--sent Christ to the cross.
The truth MUST be spoken, but as Paul learned, after much humbling, was that Christ meant it to be spoken "in love"--and with "respect and gentleness".
God can defend His sacred Word--he does not need a Pastor to do it with an act that smacks of hubris clothed in a flimsy garb of "honoring God".
