The month of September 2005 was a very busy month for President Bush after Katrina came on land at the Gulf coast and damaged the area. We see President Bush and First Lady Laura visiting New Orleans and other affected areas in Louisiana and Mississippi to comfort the victims of the hurricane and bring aid
The country lost Chief Justice William Renquist who passed away on September 3, 2005
President Bush nominated Judge Roberts to become the next Chief Supreme Court Justice. On September 29th Justice Roberts was sworn in as the 20th? Supreme Court Chief Justice.
President Bush remembered 9/11 heroes at a Medal of Valor ceremony. He also met with several foreign leaders and addressed the Useless Nations
For the quote of the month I have chosen President Bushs Remarks which he gave at the National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service on September 16, 2005
Sorry for the double post!
pattyvita, what a wonderful way to start the New Year, even if I’m coming in late! My husband fell asleep about 10:30 so I poured a half glass of wine and celebrated with Megan and Bill at midnight.
This is just a glorious photo of an incredibly handsome couple. I didn’t think W could get any handsomer, but I was wrong. When I first glimpsed the painting I thought it was of Millie! No, the wine was a few days ago! I wonder if it’s their view looking out from one of the windows at the ranch.
This thread is going to be the only way we can get thru the next 4 years of all arrogance and no humility. We’d all better pray a lot!
Congratulations on your decision to leave California. There may be many more people following your lead. Sounds like a miracle that everything went as smoothly as it did. What an adventure you have waiting for you! We visited Texas for the first time about 15 years ago and I was really sad to have waited so long. The Hill Country was just beautiful. We’ll never get back but I have wonderful memories—especially of all the great pies!
Oh, don’t worry about the double post NordP and good luck on your new life in Texas. Hope everything goes well on finding a new home and making new friends there!
Yes, I agree. Don’t know how President Bush maintains that youthful image. Give him a ton of credit for keeping up a healthy lifestyle, that’s for sure!
Glad that this thread can provide us with some relief and comfort as we’re going to endure plenty of dark days for the next 4 years. God help us all.
President Bush posed with a fan yesterday at the Gasparilla Inn in Boca Grande, Florida yesterday (Sunday, Jan 20th). He and Laura are vacationing there for the rest of this month.
Since hes not at the inauguration this morning, no wonder Dubya looks so joyous and cheerful in this photo. He wants nothing to do with the "rats" who booed and treated him horribly when he left the Capital in the Marine One helicopter on Jan. 20, 2009. That was very disgusting, still makes my blood boil.

On Saturday night GWBs truck got sold for $300,000. Congrats to the person who bought it and it will go to a worthy cause to help our troops.

I absolutely refuse to watch any news today
Thank you, Patty! What a refreshing face after having to see the fake president’s ugly mug splashed all over the papers. I haven’t turned on the TV. Couldn’t take it!
Wow. Wish I was at that Inn right now. I remember when he came back here to Midland after leaving Washington. He was greeted like a rock star, and I’m sure he enjoyed that.
Can’t blame you at all. Yesterday’s coverage was nothing but a nauseating slobbering lovefest.
Didn’t bother to watch the speech, so I immersed myself into watching some great basketball games instead. I’m big basketball fan by the way!
Thanks for sharing that tidbit. President Bush must have been moved and overwhelmed by the citizens of Midland who welcomed him back with open arms, like coming back to reunite with his long-lost family members.
It was reprehensible of how he was treated like garbage by a bunch of traitors in DC on his last day in office. So I boycotted yesterday’s TV coverage and hope you did too.
By the way this is the portrait that GW painted of Barney recently. He's been taking up painting lessons for the past several months and by the looks of it, he's not too shabby!
RIP Barney, we will miss you and the memories you left behind, including those adorable Barney Cam Christmas videos at the White House!

Former First Dog Barney Bush a black, Scottish terrier jokingly called a lump by Karl Rove has passed away after a battle with lymphoma. He was 12. Former President George W. Bush announced on Friday the passing of the little fellow, saying in a news release that after twelve and a half years of life, his body could not fight off the illness.
Barney was by my side during our eight years in the White House, said Bush, who also released Friday an oil painting he did of Barney. He never discussed politics and was always a faithful friend. Laura and I will miss our pal.

So sad! Barney was an icon and I loved his Christmas videos!
I love that GW signs his paintings “43”. :)
I just heard Sheperd Smith reporting it on Fox Report. I enjoyed watching the Barney cam every year.
RIP Barney.
I used to enjoy his Christmas Specials.
I just read about this on Facebook. It’s good that Barney is no longer suffering but I’m so sad for President and Mrs. Bush. My 16 y/o mini schnauzer passed away last year and it’s really hard to lose these dear friends.
I didn’t know that President Bush painted the portrait of Barney. It’s excellent! How nice to hear that our dear ‘W’ has taken up painting; this may be a good method of relaxation.
Thanks for the update, pattyvita. Hope all is well with you. Have a nice week-end!
Poor President and Laura Bush are going through a great deal of tears right now. I don’t own any pets so I can’t imagine what it’s like to grieve over a pet’s death as if they were your own children.
Luckily they still have their other dog Miss Beasley and a new grandchild to look forward to this spring so I’m pretty sure their spirits will brighten up as that particular day approaches. But Barney will be irreplaceable as he was very much a part of the Bushes’ lives for 12 years.
Thanks 4integrity same to you, enjoy a nice weekend as well.
Not too shabby?? I'd say our President has indeed been gifted from the looks of this portrait. My condolences to the Bush family.
