Gee, what a convenient time for another “accident”.

Can’t wait for the September Surprise this year?

The following link provides a list of oil rig disasters:
http://home.versatel.nl/the_sims/rig/losses.htm

The list includes 61 disasters on rigs located in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) since 1956.

The most recent rig disasters in the GOM were ALL due to hurricanes (16 rigs lost since 2005)

The last rig lost to an accident in the GOM was the collapse of the Parker 14-J rig in September 2003, after a jacking mechanism failed. No lives lost. Technically, this was an accident that occured as part of the installation of a new rig.

The last rig in the GOM to have a blowout was in 2001 (Marine IV).

The last rig in the GOM to have a blowout and a fire was in 1999 (NFX Platform A).

I'm still not understanding why SWAT teams were sent out to the BP platform by HLS.

Nothing has ever been explained about that call!

November is getting closer and I assume Obama needs another diversion of some sort....I'm just waiting and wondering what it will be!

Don't think it matters anymore, the full blown "nuttery" has been released.....even on FR.
Sad, very sad.

“You know, I can’t remember having any explosions of Gulf oil platforms until this year. Ever.

Do I need a tinfoil hat?”

Not unless you add in the coal mine explosions, the fires at the Texas refinery and yesterday’s propane explosion in Pennsylania.

“Dumb question: why are the oil rigs exploding in the south? We have a lot of them here in CA offshore and none of them have gone boom.”

Louisiana = Red State
California = Pink State

Nuff said.

Wow, fortunately, Mr. Obama has a ban on offshore drilling.

Until the judge shot it down yesterday - for the second time.

If only one plane had hit the WTC on 9/11 we would all still be talking about what a horrible accident it was.......

I just wanted to see the frequency of GOM accidents.

Excluding rigs lost to weather and poor installation, there has been a rig accident roughly every other year since 1964. It is true that it has been 7 years without an accident, but this may be attributable to a focus on safety, better technology, etc. Having two accidents in one year has happened in 2010, 2001, 1987 and 1970.

‘Frequency of accidents’ is not an indicator of a conspiracy at this point.

Deepwater Horizon was not producing when it blew up either. It managed to produce quite the sheen...

Get out the dispersant and we'll be fine. The Gulf will take care of itself ... now if we can just keep the government and media out of it.(Damage, Media or Government?)

I agree with the occurrence of well & platform mishaps in the gulf as I have customers that service & supply them. However, whether it is actual sabotage or Obama ginned up reportage,it is being done with purpose. Several engineers I have spoken with are skeptical of Deep Horizon being an accident. We probably won't know the answers for several years if ever.

“It was a non producer.”

59,000 gallons of oil and 600,000 square feet of gas a day aint a non-producer.

Had there been no Deepwater Horizon, this would not even be mentioned in the MSM. As I said upthread....media orgasm.

This thing reeks of B.S... In other words it did not happen by accident. I don’t buy it for one freaking second.
