There are now 13 Democrat-held Senate seats in play (Tsunami alert)
American Thinker ^ | 08/30/10 | Richard Baehr

Add West Virginia to the list of vulnerable Democratic held Senate seats with Governor Joe Manchin holding a slim 6% lead over Republican John Raese in a state where approval for President Obama is at 29%.

The current list includes 5 states where Republicans hold solid leads: North Dakota, Delaware, Indiana, Arkansas and Pennsylvania; two states where the GOP holds a narrow lead: Colorado and Washington; 3 states where the race is essentially even: Nevada, Illinois, and Wisconsin; and 3 states where Democrats hold small and shrinking leads: California Connecticut and West Virginia.

I would rate CA (Fiorina) as a tossup. Not a Boxer lead.

I agree. Ras has Boxer up by 1. Survey USA has Fiorina up by 4. They debate on Wednesday. I predict that the debate will go well for Carly.

I fully expect that ALL Blue States will have election chicanery, with trunkloads of absentee ballots being discovered, no voter ID allowed, and multiple "disenfranchisement" claims, as they move to high-gear, Chicago-style electioneering.

This will be the biggest voting fiasco in history, as far as stealing elections go.

Dear Senators Warner and Webb (D) Virginia:

Your names will be on this list in 2012 & 2014. Between now and then - You're fired! Reason: You haven't represented us; you have facilitated the destruction of the Constitutional rights that so many Virginians risked their lives and fortunes to secure. We are not as gullible and ill-informed as you might think.

But Newsweek and MSNBC were saying that there is nothing for the Dems to worry about because 35% of Americans blame Bush, which they interpret to mean that the GOP only has a chance of winning 65% of the vote.

Can you guess why the Dems are totally wee-weed up about this?

Think about the turnout of the Beck Rally vs the Sharpton rally, with some estimates at the ratios at (roughly) between 100 and 150 to one.

Simply transmogrify rally attendance energy to voter energy, and you can see why congressional Dems seem so sneeringly angry and inconsolably depressed.

In the Second District of Virginia we have two Democrats (one of whom is a RINO who thought Cash for Clunkers was just nifty and also donated money to Barry) running against an Independent (who used to be a GOP chair and would likely caucus with the Republicans anyway). It is a mess! We ended up with 6 candidates in the Primary. With the exception of one anomaly who liked to discuss the merits of breast feeding and tattoos, any of the others would have been spectacular candidates Vs the RINO we have now. If this RINO pulls it off, then it will be due to his having an “R” next to his name, BUT he is no authentic “R”. In short, the political RINO machine is working overtime in this neck of the woods, so we cannot count on anything good from the much more deserving 2nd District of VA.

Kind of like what is playing out in Alaska right now with thousands more absentee ballots coming in than went out. Republicans know all the dirty tricks too. They’re all just politicians after all. Mark Twain sized all of them up pretty well.

They have been reading my post again....

The VA seat is one of the 3 or 4 seats that Santorum claims will need to be sworn is ASAP post the election. With that said, they are the block

My guess is the Dems know they will loose the house and will throw everything to save these below. The Unions will poney up the dough and get bupkis in terms of a return on their investment, voters are that pi$$ed.

Note these are all Potential Republican pickups, not a Republican replacing a Republican Seat.

1.) California, Fiorina,
2.) Colorado, Buck
3.) IL, Kirk,
4.) Nevada, Angle
5.) Washington, Rossi,
6.) Wisconsin, Johnson
7.) Connecticut, McMahon,
8.) PA, Toomey,
9.) Delaware, Christine O'Donnell
10.) Arkansas, Boozman
11.) North Dakota, Hoeven
12.) West Virgina, the Byrd Seat, Raese

The long shots...

OR, Hoffman over Widen
The NY seats, Gillibrand and Schumer

I have been saying 12 for months.

And I have said and still say, WV won’t happen. Too much is going on their to make it happen. It is the GOP’s fault.

But now they have a new chairman, and MAYBE he will end the internal wars, reach out to the old chairmen who have been tossed aside along with their supporters and truly unite the party.

If we LOSE WV, which is all very likely, it will be BECAUSE the GOP has failed to LEAD and is a classic “Meet the new boss, same as the old boss” problem.

Wake up WV GOP! You have this one if you can stomach working WITH and reaching out TO every Republican.

"thousands more absentee ballots coming in than went out"

Ah, yes. And the RNC batallion is on-site, to make sure they can disqualify ANY non-Murkowski ballots. What's new?

No offense intended here, but the talk of leads is best held off until the day after the election.

If we have the lead on that day, I’ll celebrate with everyone.

Nose to the grindstone until then...

Unless Boxer can drop a bombshell...

If she had one, she’d hold it until two weeks or less before the election though.

Boxer’s in trouble IMO.

Ditto that...I hope to volunteer for 60 days before as much as can, locals and one House (no Senate in MI).

"I predict that the debate will go well for Carly."

Better remember to call Boxer by her title "Senator," or we could have a real pout-out on our hands.

Thanks. All the best to you in your state, and as far as it goes, best of luck to all of us this November, because every one of these elections means a lot to the future of our nation.

I can't believe we (GOP) will win in PA. Reality is people were saying on here that PA was a certain toss-up and could go McCain just 2 years ago. Obama won it by 11%! Not even in the realm of being close. I do believe we will take back the House/Congress. But the Senate I think will wait until 2012 most likely. There is no doubt a ground swell away from Obama and DEMS. But these full blown Blue States (WA, CA and PA, and likely WI) as well. I just don't see us carrying them State wide which is what it comes down to in the Senate.

We will win plenty of districts. We will take back many of the House Seats GWB carried in 00/04.

But CA, WA and PA going Red. I will have to see it to believe it. Again, I look at PA in 2008. We have fellow FR'ers and I had brothers in the Military (from PA) swearing to me it was a pick'em race. In the end it wasn't even a contest. These States are pathetically Blue and pathetically looking for Gov't to support them. That is the bottom line.

If the GOP wins WV, it will be because of the People of the State rose up and said enough is enough.
