It’s a goofy picture that does not reflect his competence as president.

But it does make him look goofy.

These two look so completely out of place. They must know, somewhere deep inside, that they don’t belong. Curious George and Aunt Ester out on the town without their keepers.
Does anybody know what the hell he was actually trying to do or is it as obvious as this picture makes it look? Surely he was not trying to place the umbrella over the top of the gateway but that is the only logical reason to take this posture.
I think the head Wookie is... I can’t even guess. I may be way off base but it looks to me like their relationship is strained beyond the normal breaking point. She can ruin him, he knows it and she knows it and she is making his life a living hell. His reaction is to be nervous as a whore in church and do all he can to keep her from exploding. It all looks like a grenade with the pin pulled three seconds ago to me.

Based on what we're looking at here, I'd give odds that he is. BTW, he doesn't even have to put the umbrella down, if he just tilts it diagonally a little it would go through.

Must have had a brain freeze.
Don’t want to blow up the bubble, but what it looks like it
could be is that he was going to fold the umbrella and go under
the gate with it...But the umbrella didn’t fold as it is
supposed to. So in order not to get wet while checking out
the inside of the umbrella, he held it up before deciding
how to make the umbrella work. Michelle is taking up some
sort of shelter under the miscreant umbrella.
On the other hand, it does look kind of bizarre holding it
up so high, so close to the gate....He should have stepped back from
the gate, got Michelle under the umbrella and examined the
problem from close range.
Either way, he handles the presidency the same way. Poor
timing, poor examining technique, and poor solutions.
We don’t have to be like the ignorant Bushbashers. Obama
is not skilled enough to be a good President of the USA,
he doesn’t need a push to be gone.
Add: Mo was very shaken up but managed to recover.
