Joe Miller's ascent to political stardom has been astonishingly sudden. When I first interviewed Miller in early July, he was "Joe Who?" After last Tuesday's stunning upset -- defeating Sen. Lisa Murkowski by 1,668 votes in the Alaska Republican primary -- he has become a hero to grassroots conservatives nationwide.
That Miller has beaten Murkowski is something the incumbent has not acknowledged. After coming up short on Tuesday night, the senator said she would not concede until the absentee ballots had been counted and then held a Wednesday press conference where she declared, "It ain't over."
The senator's non-concession has forced reporters to spend the past several days contorting their stories into euphemistic pretzels with talk of Miller "leading" Murkowski, as if it were still an active campaign. In fact, the campaign is over and Miller is the winner, pending a count of those remaining ballots that will likely only confirm what a majority of Alaska's 92,000 Republican primary voters decided on Tuesday: They're sick and tired of the GOP establishment.
That establishment is nevertheless still powerful, even in (apparent) defeat. Conservatives could only shake their heads and curse in impotent frustration last week when it was reported that the National Republican Senatorial Committee had flown its top lawyer Sean Cairncross to Anchorage to advise Murkowski's campaign in what may turn into an ugly fight over the absentee ballots.

Like Crist in Florida, this is shameless, power-grabbing and proves that she is unprincipled in anything than saving her neck.
Lisa, it’s time to pack your bags darlin’ the fat lady has sung...Go Away!!
Have the final results been announced?
Read the level of desperation as shown by the letter from Miller’s attorney documenting attempted/actual ballot tampering by Murkowski’s camp. It’s a bombshell and rises to the level requiring investigation.

(p.s. Miller’s attorney (Van Flein) is the same one used by Sarah in defense of the multiple false ethics charges filed against her.)
Semi-final tomorrow with release of absentee ballot counts. Final not until early or mid-September.
Thanks clyde5445 for spotting this.
Lisa can do whatever she wants. She can’t overcome Joe Miller’s lead and if she’s runs third party, it won’t matter.

Future Useless Eater posted on another thread:
Everyone assumes that the absentee ballots will run about 75% Republican, similar to the general election, but I totaled the data from all 40 districts in the states primary results website, and found this....
Cards Cast Report as of Aug 25, 2010 4:42pm
Total absentees 13458
Republican ballot ..... 5801 43.1%
ADL ballot ................ 5197 38.6%
Measures-only ballot 2460 18.3%

I don’t object to her waiting for absentee ballots but when the votes are in she should support Miller (and he her if it somehow turns around).
She should learn a lesson from this and change her RINO ways (regardless of who wins). If she changes her ways (which is hard to prove if she is not in office) she could consider running against the Dem in the next senate election.
there should be a law against politicians
giving political offices to their children or wives.
Freepers, make the calls NOW!!! This is why we are here.
Well, let’s hope for the best for Miller!
Hey, be nice now! Murkowski is a member of the ruling class. RINO or democrat makes no difference. She is ENTITLED to her senate seat, given her vast superiority over we the little people.
If those numbers are correct, if we take the 5,801 GOP ballots and multiply them by 1.5 to account for late arrivals and the other provisional ballots, Murkowsi would have to win 60% of them to overcome her deficit.
If we double the 5,801, she’s still have to win over 57% of the outstanding ballots.
Assuming they’re fairly counted, I can’t imagine she’d win 57% or more.
Everyone MUST remember that the National Republicant Senatorial Committee has sent its ‘Political Correction Squad’ to assist in counting Murkowski’s votes.
Unfortunately the NRSC is entrenched in the Ruling Class and is uninterested in the rank and file Republicans, much less Conservatives.
It is up to us to methodically remove the Ruling Class from the leadership of the Republican Party and return it to the people. Basically it is exactly the opposite of what the far left has done to the demonic-rat party (remove all traces of the common man and put in place Ruling Class Monarchs whose only moderation is they no longer cry “Off With Their Heads!”; but use their brown shirt in the legal and press to destroy people’s lives).
She needs 78.5 percent to overcome the lead. She needs 63.7 percent to trigger auto recount.
It’s over for Murkowski.
“It is up to us to methodically remove the Ruling Class from the leadership of the Republican Party and return it to the people.”
I have already contacted my Senator, John Cornyn, who is the head of the RNSC. In no uncertain terms I have conveyed my extreme displeasure in him trying to destroy the GOP after backing candidates not supported by the people like Crist and Specter who also have no qualms in running AGAINST the GOP instead of supporting the ultimate GOP candidate.
Murkowski is another one who is just interested in job preservation and unprincipled.
I told Cornyn my money and support will go to another GOP primary candidate when he is up for reelection in he continues the GOP destruction.
