“When this story first broke, a mormonite posted it, apparently to show how mormons were so very persecuted in every way and were victims.”

As the person who posted this thread, I did not post it because I feel like we are victims.

I posted it because it was newsworthy.

The shooter was taking psychiatric meds, and as with all of these types of crimes, whenever I hear about an inexplicable violent crime, I often wonder if it was Prozac or Zoloft that drove the perp to commit the crime.

The careful teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ do NOT lead to acts of violent retribution.

Taking mind bending drugs that were designed to cause addiction, violence, and insanity do.

I don’t shun anyone who has left the church for whatever reason.

But I am somewhat skittish about hanging with those who take psychiatric meds because of the known side effects of violence, including suicide and murder as has been so devastatingly portrayed in this tragic story.

Jenny,
You were not the first to post the article. I did not mean you. It is a terrible tragedy that this man’s life was ruined by his mental illness - especially after serving our country. It is a double tragedy that he harbored bad feelings to his old ward that ended in the death of an innocent man. Sin is like this - permeating the world and life.

I object strenuously to those who have attempted to portray this as “mormon hate” and tie it to people on FR by innuendo. That sounds like the kind of message that comes out of the Obama Whitehouse. It is a tragedy. Period. It happens. This time it involved a mormon ward.

best,
ampu

Plenty of Christians that lived and died in WW2 would probably argue your comment.
