SENATE RACE: Miller's camp says GOP group is preparing for legal battle.
There were more allegations by the Joe Miller campaign of ballot-counting monkey business on Saturday as the absentees continue to pour into the Alaska Division of Elections. State elections officials now say there are 23,472 ballots to process, with more coming, and the first count set for Tuesday.
Miller currently leads Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski by 1,668 votes in the Republican primary.
Miller campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto said in an e-mail Saturday that there are many calls going out to Alaskans who voted absentee ballots, asking them who they voted for in the primary.
DeSoto said his basis for making that assertion is that a woman contacted the Miller campaign about getting a call, that such a call was brought up in the comment section of a story on the Daily News website, and that several people had called an Anchorage talk radio show to say they've received such calls.
"I believe, and time will prove it, (the calls) are being done for nefarious purposes," DeSoto said in the e-mail. "It is definitely not being done by the Joe Miller campaign. It is being done, I believe, by the National Republican Senatorial Committee or someone they contracted with as the beginning of a legal battle to throw out ballots."

It is hard to find a place with zero political problems. About the time I think I have found an honest politician we eventually learn otherwise. I too have been a long time R and because of the work I do we need to work with the Rs and the Ds.
Our next trip to Fairbanks is in October and out to Fox to eat at the Turtle club.
“Reality is not defined by a court of law”
Hear, hear!
“First, the election must be razor close. (2% is not razor close). I know of no election day lead of 2% that has ever been overcome by post-election day statewide counts. Stevens lead over Begich was about 1%.”
And it was a general election that had over 30,000 absentees to count - not even near that number here in this primary.
“Ive been to the liberal bastion of Portland but only in the Seattle airport.
Is it as liberal as I hear?”
Yes, as liberal as you here - but Tea Party stalwart Keli Corrander (Liberty Belle) is from here, and there are many great patriots from all around WA ST just like there are many great patriots in OR and CA - the notorious Left Coast.
But Seattle is geographically beautiful with so much water and so many mountains, etc. I think for a time Seattle had one of the highest per capita boat numbers (even higher than Boston, et al). Not as sure about today. And, funny enough, guess where the most sunglasses per capita are sold? You guessed it - Seattle! We forget where we placed them when we have the long gray patches and rain, and when the sun comes out, we just go and buy another pair. Another interesting tidbit about Seattle - there are more Subways shops in the city than McDonalds.
OK - but with so much beauty around us here - it must have gotten to many brains - which have succumbed to weak liberal pap. Seattle long ago (turn of the 1900s) was a bastion of union activism and socialist political sentiment. So easy to see the line in history that connects say Jim McDermot’s 70% RAT safe district with our past socialist history.
All this said, it looks like decently Conservative Dino Rossi, who was the State Senate lead in balancing the state budget in the 1990s without raising taxes has a 7 point lead or so on the Senator in tennis shoes Patty Worry.
Keli Corrander = Keli Carender (correct spelling)
“Why do think Lisa does not support the soul of our nation? Why do not clean up your own state before being hyper critical of your neighbor?”
Believe me, I’m quite involved doing just that. Please feel free to comment on WA ST any old time you wish, I won’t be offended. ‘Hyper critical?’ Really? Listen Murkowski is a anti-life, anti-marriage liberal establishment Republican. Need I say more about the ‘soul’ question?
35 years ago I left L.A. for Florida because I like water so much and I can actually go in to it without the chill factor.
Just visited L.A. for the 1st time since I left. It was lovely but far too many crazies and NO water cept the Pacific.
Always thought the Seattle area would be wonderful for the fishing and vistas but too cold water.
You get much grief for being one of three conservatives in the area?
