Does anyone else wonder how so many of these threads keep getting hijacked by Mormon-bashers? What ever happened to you celebrate your religion and I’ll celebrate mine? This mud fight is getting ridiculous! If a person wants to worship a tree—that’s his own businss!! We need to pray for these people who have nothing else to do.

I’m a Presbyterian.

I’m a Presbyterian.

WHY do you STAY in that UNTRUE sect??

When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home.

And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was.

I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.”

I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

Probably because the article is about a Mormon pretending to be a Christian. It is highly offensive to those who are Christians to be associated with heretics, who up until recently had the decency to insist on that separation. Somwhere recently, LDS has decided to attack the Church and target the weaker of the faith for their indoctrination.

The concept of "you celebrate your religion and I'll celebrate mine" is akin to watching your neighbor's home burn down with them in it and rationalizing to yourself that its none of your business to initiate a rescue

Dittos with the approval of people condemning themselves to eternal damnation because they are worshipping a tree. But what is most offensive is that you are suggesting that we pray so that the Gospel is quenched and does not go out.

It sounds like you are advocating the Anti-Commission, that God is somehow glad and eager to make sure that the Truth of the Gospel never gets out. To me, that is pure demonic.

I’m a Presbyterian.

I'm guessing PC-USA. Sounds like their M.O.

No one is saying Mormons can't do whatever they want.

HOWEVER...

They take the name of Christ despite carrying false doctrine, and we are called to defend his name.

They send out 50K missionary sales men to capture and ensnare people into their cult.

They call YOUR savior the brother of Satan, one of several Gods conceived through a physical sexual act between god who is a man and Mary. They tell men that they too can become gods. There are other slanders.

What if the only exposure one has to Christianity is the LDS cult? What if it turns them from God or worse turn them towards their false one since they have been using the “Christian” brand name for the past 20 odd years in their new PR assault?

Why would you, as a Presbyterian, a fine Christian tradition, turn your back as otherwise good people walk blithely through the gates of hell?

Has modern American Christianity become so terrified of the PC world that we have lost sight of our duties. Have we let Oprah set out what Christians are today?

Seems so...

You talk of celebrating your religion and others celebrate theirs. That is tolerance, a fine tradition of this Christian Nation.

However tolerance is not equity, and we have a higher duty to one who transcends nations and politics, a duty Americans took seriously at a time oddly enough where we did not face the issues we do in the age of Oprah Christianity...
