Pastors affirm Obama's Christianity, denounce 'misrepresentations' By Elise Viebeck - 08/27/10 12:59 PM ET
More than 70 pastors and other denominational leaders affirmed President Obama's Christianity on Friday in a letter written to oppose "those who continue to insinuate that the President is Muslim, not a Christian."
The letter urged religious leaders, public officials and the media to refuse to give attention to those who distort Obama's faith, calling the president "unwavering" in his commitment to Christianity.
The statement comes on the heels of a poll last week showing that 18 percent of Americans believe Obama is a Muslim, up from 11 percent in March 2009.
The number that say Obama is a Christian, meanwhile, has sharply decreased -- from 48 to 34 percent -- within the last year.
Another poll out Friday shows that Protestant Christians' approval of Obama's job performance has steadily declined since 2009, and that they now approve the least, at 43 percent, of any religious group except Mormons.
The letters' signers, who represent more than seven Protestant denominations and numerous other groups, wrote that contrary to rumors about Obama's faith, many of them had "prayed and worshipped with this President." They also stressed that as a group, they all come from "different political and ideological backgrounds."
"We understand that these are contentious times, but the personal faith of our leaders should not be up for debate," the letter reads. "We believe that fellow Christians need to be an encouragement … not question the veracity of [others'] faith."

Most people do not recognize that what happens in a mosque is sedition. Pure and simple. Islam is not just a “religion”, it is a cult. Larger than that though, it is a political system, it is it’s own government, a economic system (which includes funding new mosque construction), its judicial...all wrapped up in the word sharia. This is inclusive of its military (jihadis) all rolled into one with one intent ...and that is to rule wherever they take root. It is a invasive, systemic infection looking to take over the host once it has quantum.
This is not just a “religion”, but something that cloaks itself in those terms so it should not be given the same treatment contemplated under the first amendment. The Korans Sharia rules are to consume whatever government there is wherever it goes.
Islam is political, and it’s goal is to supplant and replace. Globally.

Obama? Obama and Company? Should be tried for treason in this issue for promoting the establishment of a foreign government on our soils. He is doing nothing to protect America as per his oath. Also, as a Muslim, he knows this, he know far better, he knows sharia, but is looking to deceive America.

Sharia is contrary to America, its rights , freedoms , liberty and democracy.
I don’t think he’s Muslim - I think he’s an atheist/agnostic who knows that won’t play in American politics at presidential level. He’s paid lip service to Christianity, and it’s a reflex for him to do the same for Islam when he’s around Muslims.
That man is so egocentric and self-important that it would be hard for him to make room for the God of any faith. And now “judge not, lest you be judged” is making itself heard...
I think Obama is the one who should be afraid—of the Living God who loves His children in America and elsewhere and Who is watching every move that Obama makes and Who hears every lie that passes Obama’s lips.

I would like to get a list of these 70 “pastors”, because not only have they not affirmed Zero’s Christianity, they have all cast doubt on the state of their own faith.

I seriously doubt these pastors know Obama well enough to vouch for his Christianity.
I’d like to see a written statement of what first hand knowledge they have of Obama that leads them to believe that Obama is Christian.

The note says “God damn America” and “Obama’s a Christian?”
We don’t even have much of his “word” that he’s a Christian -
he’s made no profession of faith,
that Jesus is THE way to salvation,
and that His sacrifice was once for all.
All we get is “I’m a Christian, BUT” he obviously believes in pluralism. The two are mutually exclusive.
The screaming left is certain that government is the answer, taxation creates wealth, and Obama is a Christian.
That is 70 worthless opinions. I don’t know of any Bible believing, evangelical pastor who would go out on a limb and claim that anyone is definitely a Christian. Especially for someone who wants to pay for killing babies and admits his Mother was an atheist but she is in heaven.
