"While I'm not by any stretch a fan of McQueeg, I do believe the proper etiquette in such things is for the defeated to call the winner and offer congratulations.

In this case I don't see the need. Bullshit etiquette has put us in the position we are in. I don't know about you but I am tired of being told to be gracious.

It will be worse with a Democrat. Contrast John Kerry's voting record with John McCain's and tell me you see no difference. People focus on the Immigration Reform Issue which is important and a deeply flawed vote. However, conservatives could commit suicide this fall by not voting for any RINOs -- there are too many of them but usually the primary is the place to defeat them as has happened this year in several cases. Hayworth wasn't the quality candidate conservatives have to back / choose. He had his own history.

If McCain had done half the dirty tricks to Obama that he dished out to JD, we be calling him President McCain!
Watch how he handles his campaign against the Dem. Bet he goes back to making nicey-nice. He never met a dem he didn’t like, “my friend”.

I understand fully that civility and courtesy have all but disappeared from our popular culture and from many aspects of our public life, but the traditional pol to pol post-election call is still in order.

Refusing to call just makes JD look small, and I don’t believe that is his nature.

So I take it Hayworth won’t be endorsing McCain after all?

People focus on the Immigration Reform Issue which is important and a deeply flawed vote.

And cap-and-tax. McCain authored that one too.

And campaign finance "reform." Oops, McCain was at the heart of that one too.

And his opposition to the tax cuts.

And his advances towards running as John Kerry's VP in 2004.

And his unabashed support of Federal bailouts.

And his collusion with the KLA during the Kosovo War. Nevermind that the KLA is affiliated with al-Qaeda.

And let's not forget McCain's "bipartisan cooperation" with John Kerry in the early '90s to abandon U.S. POWs and MIAs in Vietnam as he embraced his Vietnamese "friends."

I get my tv online thru a FL station. The Scott/McCollum ads were as low on both sides as any I’ve heard. That said, McCollum DID make the traditional courtesy call, then issued his broadside.

I don’t know the details of the Scott affair, so can’t judge. BUT I would remind folks that it’s taken years for Tom DeLay to be cleared, all the while scandal hanging over his head and ending his Congressional career, because of over-eager prosecutors.
