OKLAHOMA CITY -- For the first time in a year, the mother of 16-year-old Antwun Parker, who was shot and killed by pharmacist Jerome Ersland, is speaking publicly.
According to police, Parker and a friend tried to rob the pharmacist at gunpoint in May 2009. Investigators said Ersland knocked Parker to the ground with one shot to the head, grabbed a different weapon and fired five more shots into his chest and abdomen.
"A coward is someone who will kill someone when they're done," said Parker's mother, Cleta Jennings. "That's not a hero. The real hero here is Antwun."
Jennings said that while her son did go into the pharmacy with a gun, she believes other people put him up to it.
"I know he was scared to death," she said. "I know Antwun was scared to death when he had to go into that pharmacy not under his own will."
In an exclusive interview with KOCO, Jennings said she was angry when she found out two pathologists with the Oklahoma County Medical Examiner's Office filed conflicting statements, which call the former chief's ruling into question. That ruling could affect the District Attorney's decision to prosecute.
"That man literally shot my son down, had no remorse, went back, got another gun, reloaded it and came back and shot him five more times," Jennings said.
The interim chief said he's still reviewing the case. District Attorney David Prater said he's not prepared to drop the case against Jerome Ersland, but said it is his duty to listen to all evidence that's brought forth in every case.
Jennings said her son will never have a chance to prove his innocence.
"He still should have had a chance to go to court and defend himself," she said. "He's just like everybody else, innocent until proven guilty."
She said she will continue to share his story and remember his achievements as she carries the pain inside her.
"He was not a masked robber. His name was Antwun Parker. He was a human."
She said she may file a civil lawsuit against Ersland if she's not happy with the course of action in the criminal case.
Story? Yes, a cautionary tale: Commit armed robbery, and you very well could end up dead. Deservedly dead. If it dissuades even one yoot from taking up a life of violent crime, if it guides even one misguided ghetto rat toward becoming something other than a ghetto rat ... it will be worth it.
Accomplishments? What? Getting up in the morning? Breathing? Eating? Getting his sorry carcass removed from the gene pool?
“I’m mad, I’m mad,” said Parker’s mother, Cleta Jennings. “He didn’t have to shoot my baby like that.”
“I’m saying, ‘Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, God. I’m excited. I’m so happy this man is being charged with murder,” she said.

She said that while her son may have been mixed up with the wrong crowd and knows that what he did was wrong, she knows that Antwun would never hold a gun and didn’t have to die.
“You could have stopped at one shot. You lied,” Antwun’s sister, Brittany Baldwin said, of Ersland. “Ain’t nothing in the world that can replace him. Nothing can take away the pain I feel now.”
Our local DA is scared to death of the OKC NAACP and is prosecuting Ersland for murder in this case. My sources inside the DA’s office tell me this is the only reason it is being prosecuted. My sources tell me thay don’t think the case is winnable and the DA loses either way. Dismiss the charges and the NAACP riots and burns down OKC. Take him to trial and get beat and join the unemployment line. Our DA is an @$$hole and a chicken$#!+.......red
“Cleta Jennings? Antwun Parker? Mother and Son?”

Response: The key to this article.
Ok lady. If you believe that your son was under the influence of others who were less than model citizens, why the h*** were you not intervening and defending your son from the elements that put him at risk? Did you really not see a bad end coming from a mile away?
I had a conversation with a young lady a few weeks ago that really opened my eyes. These “corner boys” have status by the number of women that they can support. Attractive young women in hood command the best of the “corner boys” and demand designer bags and other goodies in trade for their own goodies. I asked her what kind of mother would be blind to such a thing and she told me that the mothers of these girls encourage this and ask the girls to get them a few things too.
I always wondered how in the world the woman in the grocery line with food stamps could afford expensive manicures, shoes and bags. Now I know. This mother came up in this world so what seems like absolute nonsense to us makes perfect sense to her.
More like Antlost.
DA says the 1st head shot did not kill him. The 5 shots to the body were the fatal ones. Its a big damn mess and we will have another DA before it was over. Ersland says the kid was still moving and making threatening moves - so he shot him again.
There’s a bunch of people itching to serve on that jury. I don’t think there is anyway the DA can get a 12-0 verdict ofr conviction - unless he stacks the jury with 12 hoodies. I think the kid is lucky he only got shot 6 times. If it had been me, he would had 15 .45s in him....red
Ersland is a true psycho killer though, that is why he was charged with murder.
A hero? He aims a gun at workers in a pharmacy, and he’s a WHAT? Idiots. If only I could sit on that jury when they try the pharmacist...
Brytlea, for a little background, this “mother’s” boyfriend was one of the ones who recruited her son for this robbery. Shows you where her head’s at.
Wrong. He was proven guilty by the facts of his cowardly crime and by a jury of nine made up of the spirits of Mr. Smith, Mr. Wesson, Mr. Colt, Mr. Remington, Mr. Winchester, Mr. Savage, Mr. Marlin, Mr. Springfield, and Mr. Armory. Well, some of them may not have been actual people, but they're damned sure spirits, and good ones!
Stupid c***, next time teach your animal children the difference between right and wrong.
You forgot the [/sarcasm] tag.
If he had that chance to go into court to defend himself chances are the charge would have been murder. Bt that’s okay for the mother of the ant one.
