In my view, that $12,000 a year is the absolute minimum. It can go up to $27,000.

RATS told us all about this - right?

The reality of Obamacare will be far worse than what folks are anticipating. People will feel they’re being choked financially, and neglected in terms of their health needs.

How could they? Nancy said they had to sign it in order to find out what was in it.

The minimum for the case she discussed is $325/month
if you never see a provider. You’re on the hook for
$2500 per person deductible before the insurance
starts paying anything. Frankly, I’m paying $208
every 2 weeks whether I use it or not. Per person
deductible is $1500. 80/20 coverage with Aetna
PPO. It’s not much different. My oldest son has had
4 open heart surgeries. The amounts cited exceed
his gross income.

Some weasel Dem spokesman on TV said that nobody should have thought the health care plan was going to reduce the “deficit”. He used this bait and switch to make it seem the Dems had never promised that Obamacare would reduce health care costs. He avoided that subject. They are all so reptilian.

I know it probably came from Rush's cochlear implant, but this was one of the funnier misunderstood words in a while.

CALLER: -- that includes prescription drugs; that includes hospital stays; that includes durable medical equipment; that includes everything.

RUSH: "Gerbil" medical equipment?

CALLER: Yeah. Okay, let me give you an example to kind of clear it up for you. Say you're a diabetic.

RUSH: Wait a minute, "gerbil" medical equipment?

CALLER: Durable.

RUSH: Oh.

RUSH: Yes, but you’re telling me that the minimum cost for the free service is $12,000?

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Wait, per person?

CALLER: Per person.

So according to this, my family of 4 would cost me at least $48,000 but could cost me up to $108,000 a year.

Should I give a standing ovation to Congress??? Oh, and my taxes are going to go up!! God Bless America.

You’re right, and it points up a tactic that I don’t think is helping the cause. The case she’s offering would involve a person who uses the maximum amount of care all the way to the stop loss level. The real cost for a healthy individual is just under four grand in premiums, and probably another five hundred bucks in non-preventive care which they get at the member discounted rates. So it’s closer to five grand than twelve. That’s enough of a hit to make the argument, and it has the advantage of not being easily refuted by the opposition. Bottom line is the free care isn’t going to be free.

My regular insurance is much worse than this, if I were to happen to get sick. We just switched to an HSA; with a $10,000 deductible (employer-offered insurance); it costs me well over $400/month for my husband and I...and we are in our 40’s with no pre-existing conditions.

If I were to get hit by a bus tomorrow, I would be on the hook for ten grand; plus 20% of whatever other expenses were incurred.

We are going to switch to private insurance, I only hope that I can afford something as good as the plan that they are laughing about.

My employer provides a detailed description of compensation to each employee. That statement indicates the employer contributes $8,000 annually toward my health care coverage. I toss in $208 bi-weekly. As usual, the devil is in the details. The coverage details each service. In 2003, my legs became swollen in a manner similar to congestive heart failure. A morning of tests at the hospital racked up $1500 real fast, yet yielded no diagnosis or treatment. I couldn't put my shoes on for 3 months. Walking for 20 minutes on a treadmill daily finally resolved the problem.

Thanks. Interesting issue in their conditions: if you leave the area, you have to disenroll. You then, appparently, have to wait a new six months to re-enroll in your new area. Easy to clean up... but it’ll increase the cost.

The disgusting thing is that I’ve had insurance (because my parents told me to be responsible) since I was a 22-year-old at my first job out of college.

Of course, I would have rather had the money for a car payment, or whatever...but I dutifully paid an escalating amount to keep what I consider “good” coverage. And, I’ve rarely used insurance.

Then, my employer had to switch from a good regular insurance offering to that ridiculous HSA...I saved a whopping $50 a month on premiums. If I dutifully save my “savings” I should get to the ten grand deductible (and that’s just for me...it ten grand per person) in my HSA in about 15 years...LOL! Hope I don’t need to actually “use” the coverage before then. As I told my husband, on January 1st, we became one “fall off a ladder” away from bankruptcy.
