Our coverage is similar to what you describe.

The disgusting thing is that I’ve had insurance (because my parents told me to be responsible) since I was a 22-year-old at my first job out of college.

Of course, I would have rather had the money for a car payment, or whatever...but I dutifully paid an escalating amount to keep what I consider “good” coverage. And, I’ve rarely used insurance.

Then, my employer had to switch from a good regular insurance offering to that ridiculous HSA...I saved a whopping $50 a month on premiums. If I dutifully save my “savings” I should get to the ten grand deductible (and that’s just for me...it ten grand per person) in my HSA in about 15 years...LOL! Hope I don’t need to actually “use” the coverage before then. As I told my husband, on January 1st, we became one “fall off a ladder” away from bankruptcy.
