President Obama said Social Security is not in crisis and only modest changes are needed to keep it solvent.
The president acknowledged at a small town hall gathering in Columbus, Ohio, Wednesday that the pension fund "has to be tweaked because the population is getting older" but said Republicans' plans to drastically overhaul the program are wrong.

if ANY changes are needed to keep it solvent, it is in trouble. And it IS in trouble.
BHO has given the Labor Unions raises.Social Security has not gotten a COL under BHO.

Like the swine flu was not a crisis, but we MADE it one anyway..now we have to destroy what's left on the shelf. What's that costing? (The government is looking after you while the other one before had failed you, they said)
Like the oil crisis in the Gulf was such a man-made disaster we would never recover from for decades, so stop all drilling in the Gulf. (even though Bush had given incentives in cost of royalties to drill shallow..Clean Air Act Attack of 2007 and also royalties strongly levied)
Confused yet? Everyone stops really spending, for fear of more job loss, decline of the dollar-how much can we really print (then why can't I print some at home) where is this country going is the biggest fear! Will gold reach $2500? ;). Will they take your gold?? Meanwhile, everyone holds their breath, thinks about doing a budget and waits it out come next election !
Recently, growing National & World polls ask how many believe Obama is a Muslim? What is the media trying to push or suggest?
White House/Congress on Vacation(s). It's stressful they claim- but meanwhile Paul &(Nancy) Pelosi had sold some of their Apple holdings. They made a capital gain of between $1 million and $5 million. Pelosi got $102,161 in book royalties. The stress 2009-2010 must have been just awful!!
Holy crap... Obama is going to cut social security?
Now the media is asking: "President Obama's religion: does your president's faith matter?

The real crisis will occur in 2050 when half of the population is 65 and older, life expectancy is 90, 30% of those over 65 has alzheimers, most have not saved enough to live on in retirement and a large number of them can no longer physically work or manage the cognitive skills to think abstractly. What are we going to do then? Looks like granny and grandpa will be moving in on their children and grandchildren to survive.
Campaigning on a platform that D.C. hasn’t stolen enough from your grandkids to give to you isn’t much of a conservative position.
More government takeover of private businesses.
I need to bookmark that video clip of the Iraqi officer saying that “the Americans are nowhere near Bagdad”, when in actuality we were on the doorstep.
It would go perfectly right here.

I thought Team Obama's CommieCare Death Panel would sort this out. /sarc

Barney Frank learning how to spin straw into gold, and not spending the resulting gold on under-age Thai male prostitutes.
I don’t think you are being sarcastic. I think this is exactly what will happen. Life expectancy will be shortened either as a subtle policy of rationing and cost/benefit or by virtue of an actual shortage of resources. Rationing will be an imperative to regain demographic equillibrium.
A society that invests the majority of its resources in an unproductive segment of society that will never become productive in the future is committing suicide. It is the old Eskimo on the ice flow reality. What remains is the cultural change necessary for the elderly to alter their expectations and feelings of entitlement concerning care and extended life expectancy. Taint pretty, but I don’t see how it could be otherwise if our grandchildren are going to survive with some semblance of financial liberty.
