nearly one in five respondents on the survey said they believed he is a practitioner of Islam, while only 34 percent of Americans correctly identified him as a Christian, down sharply from a year earlier.
The poll was conducted by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.
Meanwhile, the percentage of people who say they are unsure what religion Obama practices has risen to 43 percent, from 34 percent a year ago.
The poll found one third of conservative Republicans believe Obama is a Muslim, a figure that has nearly doubled. But the president's faith was incorrectly identified by rising numbers of Democrats and independents too.
Some 18 percent of independent voters thought Obama was Muslim, up eight percentage points, and fewer than half the president's Democratic supporter believe him to be a Christian.
The Pew survey polled 3,003 respondents between July 21 and August 5, and had a plus-or-minus 2.5 percent sampling error.

The Lame Stream media keeps putting in the words such as “incorrectly” or On yahoo last night “he’s not”. They are covering this guy to the tee. We have lost our country to a bunch of Communist Media types... It makes me sick.. And I fear for us. What would a good Muslim do if he is backed into a corner. He will strike out... Didn’t he say the sound of the call to prayer (muslim) was the most beautiful sound on earth? Do you know any Christian who says that?
Obama was exposed to Islam as a kid and maybe practiced it when he was in Indonesia...but once he came stateside again, he didn’t bother with anything. Don’t forget, his mother and white grandfather were lefties. When he went to Chicago, in order to get street cred in the black community he needed to ally himself with a church. Now look at the church he allied himself with——one that parallels Marxist ideology. Now, Pres. OH? really isn’t much of anything in the religious department.
I don’t believe Obama is a Muslim, and spreading that belief only distracts from the real story, and the real problem.
Obama is to me a CULTURAL Muslim in that he was brought up to be familiar with Islam due to his father’s belief.
20 years in Rev. Wright’s clubhouse is a lot more evidence that he is simply someone with no deep religious faith who goes along with a kind of caricature of Christianity so he can talk to his target audience—his “community” where he walked around, said the right things, and was praised as “one of us” while being a clean, articulate black man to the Bidens of the world. His comment about “clinging to guns and religion” tells me he’s no Christian, but he’s also no believer of any sort—a Muslim wouldn’t dismiss religion that way. I see no evidence he was a practicing Muslim during this period, but I believe his actions while in the White House show the real truth—his sympathies are with Islam, not his belief (which is in Alinsky and the hardcore left).
While in the White House he has brought gays to a Christian event, but not to a Muslim one. We see in his Ramadan pronouncements that he has this deep cultural connection, but once again, I don’t see any evidence he is a follower in terms of religion.
He’s been in DC for over a year but still hasn’t found a church where he can worship? He must want another Rev. Wright—a POLITICAL “church”. THAT, I think, is why he attended Wright’s church for so long—because it was a cultural/radical political place. I see no evidence of any kind of spirituality in the man, just a community activist type who cynically plays religious cards when he can. Yet his cultural ties to Islam show where his sympathies lie—but I have never seen evidence that he is a follower of the Muslim faith. He’s like a fallen-away Catholic who doesn’t care for the church or the positions, but finds himself thinking about favorite Bible passages, caring for the poor, etc.
He ain’t a Muslim; he’s worse, he’s a phony who identifies with the Muslim people, while being free to say he’s not a Muslim. There is a difference, and a more insidious, manipulative soul is on display than someone who merely lies about which religion he follows.

On another thread, one FReeper posted that he was certain 0bama is culturally muslim, but theologically atheist. I think that hits it pretty well. No way is 0bama a Christian.

So when we add it all up from what we see happening, it’s hard to believe that he’s a devout Chrisitian. And he is very accomodating towards Islam.
Lets see some evidence that Hussein is Christian. It will be hard to find. He makes positive comments about his muslim brothers and never comments at all about the virtues of Christianity.

It amazes me how the msm will continue to lie for this man. And why are none of them questioning why he can’t welcome the troops home from Iraq? Seems that is the least a president can do.
I hate this man with every fiber of my being.
