It doesn’t mean he won’t try to do away with it. Once these taxes go into effect, they are almost never eliminated. It probably wouldn’t be a good time right now to eliminate it anyway. Our state is in a serious world of hurt, financially.

The Problem:
According to the non-partisan Tax Foundation, under Ted Strickland, Ohio ranks 7th in the nation in total tax burden. Ted Strickland does not understand the crushing impact taxes have on the economy, businesses and families, which is why:
As a member of Congress:
* Ted Strickland supported Bill Clinton’s 1993 tax hike, the largest in American history.
* Ted Strickland raised taxes by $840 million last year because he was unwilling to make the tough choices necessary to reduce government spending.
* Ted Strickland has refused to rule-out another tax increase to fill Ohios looming $8 billion budget hole.
Ted Stricklands preference for tax increases over spending restraint will only continue to cripple Ohios economy.
We Can Do Better:
John Kasich and Mary Taylor recognize that Ohios high tax burden is hurting families, strangling businesses and stunting our ability to create jobs and revive our economy. They will work to reduce state government spending so we can reduce taxes and revive Ohios economy.
That’s just another issue he’s lied about. He can’t be trusted, just like when he lied to his constituents about the semi-auto ban. His word is no good.
I'm from MA, and was astounded when I moved to OH. Taxes are much worse here. There are taxes on taxes. What is the RITA tax anyway? And people actually vote to add to their taxes so the community college can have more money!
And fees? Nobody can tell me what the "city franchise fee" is on my cable bill every month, but I pay it.
The state income tax really isn't that bad here for those who make a moderate to low income. I fear what they'd replace it with and what OH would cut.
They could improve our quality of life if they did LESS road construction and improvement projects. They just keep tearing Cleveland up to build things that have less quality and usefulness than what they started with. And once a project is started, it takes longer to build than the time spent on a major pyramid in Egypt. (slight exaggeration)
