Pence: No personal attacks against Obama or Dems
The Hill's Blog Briefing Room ^ | 08/18/10 | Michael O'Brien

Republicans shouldn't engage in personal attacks against President Obama or other Democrats on the campaign trail, a top House Republican said Wednesday.

Conference Chairman Mike Pence (Ind.) pressed his party to attack ideas with which they disagree, but to avoid attacking opponents during an election cycle that has been noted for its heated rhetoric.

When you insist on fighting cleanly with the trash of the Democrat party all you do is get kicked in the balls!
Democrats are liars and Republicans need to start bringing attention to it

Dear Seantor Pence,

If you can secure a deal with the media to stop attacking Sarah Palin's children and husband, I promise to stop making fun of Michelle's butt.

But until you have this deal in place, I'm going to let loose:

The wives of the French Prime Minister, Prince of Spain and the President of the United States

Perhaps he means this kind of personal attack. I agree, leave it to us on FR and talk radio hosts. Attacking a voting record or statements is fair game.

The "new tone" is getting very old.

IMHO, from Pence's standpoint, it's to our benefit. There's more than enough on 0bama's record to attack. We don't need to let the media frame him as a victim.

Pence is a chump.

He’s caught inside-the-beltway love disease.

IMO candidates need to stay above the fray.

If we want to lose to Democrats. Opposition research wins elections.

That’s the same strategy that brought us Obama!! While the RATS continued to pummel Bush and the pubbies they stood by and took it. It reminds one of the old “Charley Atlas” adds where the skinny little fellow always got shoved around by the big bully. Only in the adds the skinny little guy got muscles and fought back. Time for the pubbies to fight, time to call Obama out for being such a notorious liar.

If you were a student of political history, you would know that attack ads are only effective in the last weeks (or even last days) of the campaign- NOT for the last three months of a campaign.

They should not be the centerpiece of the campaign.

If someone asks a Ford dealer why he should buy a Ford, there needs to be a better answer than “...because Chevy’s suck!”

Nah. It's tactical. 0bama's record has given the GOP a full plate of fodder to attack him on. Don't need to waste ad space/time on the personal stuff.

Good news for Charlie Rangel and Maxine Waters.

Guess we’ll find out if running issues-centered campaigns will succeed against the entrenched Dem campaign philosophy that “the personal is political” ...

Had we taken off the gloves 6+ years ago, there would not be a NEED to take the country back from the libs! Idiots all!

Agreed. The GOP has lost its direction and has fallen prey to the concept that you can stay in office by giving my money away to someone else. Wrong move...

And that, IMO, is part of his record, not a "personal" attack. His lies are echoes of his policies and are absolutely fair game.

...climate-gate was the result of a very limited consensus of opinion and since it was “established science” there was no need for further debate.

As my old tagline said: If it's consensus, it's not science. If it's science, there's no need for consensus.....

They should attack the corruption and the radical over reach of what the dems have done. For once, they should offer a clears conservative alternative for REFORM of the corrupt government, cap and trade and corporate welfare because they have to offer a reason for people to switch to the Republican party.

They should focus on cutting the size and scope of the Federal government, protecting freedom on the internet from Democrat and Corporate speech and regulation control, freedom and privacy in health care, freedom of farming, secure borders and an orderly immigration policy, addressing the problem of domestic terrorism over-reach into altering and harassing innocent people’s life in Amercia.

The problem is that Rinos support all these police state, radical, big government things proposed and sought by the Dems and there are a lot of Rinos running for office and they control the GOP. So...they have to be an empty, stupid party offering nothing unique from the democrats at all.
