They will of course not tell themselves this re-assessment is related to politics; they will persuade themselves they are doing what's right for the security of our country. Watch.

Sounds like what old fashioned democrat administrations would do but will Barry ever attack a Muslim nation rather than defending their right to have mosques and reactors?

” They will of course not tell themselves this re-assessment is related to politics; “

If such a thing were to come to pass, “re-assessment” would be the understatement of the century....

Hmmmmm.... let me see... a President with a sinking popularity... with a rotten economy... with high unemployment.. with a very non-military orientation... very left-wing... that is going to take some sort of military action against Iran.

I think we’ve already had one of those. How did that turn out?

If he is Sunni he may well attack Iran at the behest of his king. Abdullah has already expressed a desire for Iran to be dealt with.

You answered your own question. This is not an old fashioned democratic administration. Wilson did not side with the central powers. Roosevelt didn’t side with the Japanese or the Germans. But this guy is siding with the organizations who pulled off 9/11. And he is being a weasel about that as well. He isn’t going all out, but over the last 2 years, he has been slowly stipping the veneer off and showing just who he actually is. A person can pretend to be someone he is not, but eventually his true self is revealed.

"The Obama who had struck Iran and destroyed its nuclear program would be a far stronger candidate, and perhaps an unbeatable one."

Laughable. Day late and dollar short. Is our military prepared to fight on a third front, over a land mass the size of Iran? No. Given Iran's extensive military presence throughout Central America and the Caribbean, is it prepared for a fourth? Hell no. Is our economy ready for the shock of the retaliatory "oil weapon"? No. Go ahead, Mr. President. Be a tough guy. Slap leather, and see where it gets ya.

Ya gotta consider the numbers. It will look good on his 2012 resume. I don’t think a limited strike will solve it. If there were signs of a strong anti government mood in Iran that would support us, like a 5th column, it would be something to try. The opposition in Iran is unarmed, the revolutionary guards are like the German SS and are above the Iranian Army and would act as overseers. The mullahs would be like the commissars.

Without an internal uprising with the necessary leadership, it will be another Mideast quagmire to deal with. Its going to be a tough call, but remember war time presidents get re-elected.

zero’s dithering has caused him to wait too long. If he bombs the Iranian nuclear facilities now, the impact will likely be that of exploding a “dirty” bomb. That could, potentially, have significantly greater consequences than dropping a garden variety nuke.

Plus, the article talks about him, essentially, letting Israel do the dirty work for him by doing the actual bombing. If the backlash is extremely negative from across the globe (as it likely will be), it gives him cover and lets him say “Don’t look at me, I didn’t do it”; a response that is perfect for a coward like him.

IMO, at this point, if he waits until October so he can have his “October Surprise”, it will be a bad move and will shine a brighter light on how big a fool he is.

If 0bummer orders an attack on Iran (unlikely as that is) it had better be a devastating one that takes full advantage of our technical superiority in weaponry and spares our brave troops a protracted ground war with hamstringing ROE. Had enough of those.

Bingo!

I can't understand why so many people would be surprised at this guy using the opportunity to blast some Shi'ites with the might of the US military!

I think he'd much rather be a one-term president than bomb Iran.

He has a few more days left before the material is delivered.

He won’t stop it.

I don’t understand why folks don’t recognize the Clinton / DPRK (North Korea) pattern.

Same deal in the 90’s. DPRK wanted nuke power for “civilian use”. In spite of warnings, others said this wouldn’t help them obtain nukes.

Albright & Clinton let them have a reactor and within a year or two, DPRK was had nuclear weapons.

We have same deal in Iran. Their reactor goes live this weekend and Clinton (Hillary) and Obama will let it pass.

Guess what happens next.

I would not be too surprised if it was to happen of some sort of attack were to happen against Obama and it was found to be connected to Iran, such as an Iranian flight student suddenly taking off from a private airstrip near the operational area of Air Force One and trying to ram it in mid air or as it was landing.

An engineered attack to gain support. Obama won’t officially issue an order right now because the cat is out of the bag and too many people know his Executives orders have no authority and if issued can be countermanded.

Let’s hope they do not micro-manage us into another “Desert One” situation...

I think we have learned the military lesson from that, and that will not repeat itself, but I do not believe any liberal has ever learned the lesson politically from that failure...

The next 24 hours will tell us volumes...

Personally, I believe that reactor will be fueled up and operational on time...And without any molestation from anyone...

I will be surprised if something does occur...

An interesting thought though...

I was hearing about how this reactor at Bushear is to be a very sizable unit, one capable of putting out a lot of power to the region...A centralized “known” location for this to happen...

All of those small “processing” hidden for the most part from public knowledge could certainly be utilized, if engineered and consructed to do so as smaller reactors, power plants (satellite) to cover a wider area, but more focused on its immediate surroundings...

So I am concerned that if I was a guy intent upon powering my country by nuclear means, and a spin off would be the ability to cret weapons grade material for military or terrorist purposes, I would rather not put all my eggs in one basket for the ultimate goal...Rather spread it all out, maintain a cover of nuclear power stations, but on a smaller scale, and less obtrusive, and reap the benefits of a decentralized production capability without giving my enemies one big juicy target to consider taking out in one final swoop...

This is why I believe Obama will be at his most dangerous...He’ll weigh and execute a military strike on the political benefits first, before military and homeland security, and we’ll be left picking up the pieces...

And then there’s Israel...Talk about being caught between Iraq and a hard place...No telling what they are planning on doing...

But again, what won’t surprise me is that nothing will occur...And anything that will be done from our position will be done from a position of weakness, thanks to Obama...

Obama will bomb Iran, not because he thinks it is the right thing to do, but to get his poll numbers up (rally round the president affect).
