Seems that this story appears to have been a set-up for Haaretz, which the mosque builders used to humiliate them with on Twitter. Now why would the Moslems want to set up the Liberal “NYT of Israel”, who is willing to make any and every concession to the Palestinians? Hmmmm....
Because they might HAVE to back down. If I recall correctly, they do not own the entire parcel of land where they want to erect this eyesore. ConEd owns the other half.
