Ray Bradbury is mad at President Obama, but it's not about the economy, the war or the plan to a construct a mosque near Ground Zero in New York City.
“He should be announcing that we should go back to the moon,”
“I think our country is in need of a revolution,” Bradbury said. “There is too much government today. We've got to remember the government should be by the people, of the people and for the people.”
The native of Waukegan, Ill., has never been shy about expressing himself -- he described President Clinton with a word that rhymes with "knithead" back in 2001.

The Apollo program was a true stimulus program. It set a defined hard target. It also pushed and advanced technology in several fields, which were then spun off into applications in everyday life.
Versus today’s “stimulus projects” which are nothing more than “make work”, political payoffs, and the like.
JFK’s speech at Rice University: “We do not do these things because they are easy, but because they are hard”. Again, the hard target, setting the bar high. Much like training for an athletic event. But today doing “something hard” involves incessant navel gazing and heavy head trips. As in “How DARE you do better than average, or even mediocre!”

I’m sure he meant to say the private sector should be going to the moon, what with his hatred of big government and all. Of course, there’s always the chance that Ray is just like everybody else and loves big government when it’s big his way.

Just because the federal government may be only one that can do something doesn’t mean that it necessarily should do it. It does not follow that it has any constitutional authority to do so, either.
Ray is Right! Up the Second Revolution! Only time will tell if the revolution will be violent or peaceful.
That's like the mindset that claims the Tea Party is anti-government because it wants responsible government.
I don't see any contradiction between wanting government not too be too big, and wanting the government to do some things.
Others have noted it’s “Harrison Bergeron” by Vonnegut, which was also adapted for PBS in an anthology film of Vonnegut pieces, “Between Time and Timbuktu.”
I'm a big fan of Mr. Bradbury. I just reread Fahrenheit 451. This part, however, reminds me a tad too much of C.S. Lewis' antagonist in his space trilogy. I wonder if that's not coincidental (on the part of Lewis).
However, the government we currently have bears ZERO resemblance to that outlined in our Founding documents.

Actually the Second American Revolution started on January 20, 2010 by Obama. The goal is to repeal the first one. What we need is a counter revolution. See ya fellow CONTRA!
It does have the feel of the Weimar Republic - Depression, civil unrest, massive drug addiction, crime and a runaway socialist government in power.
Now I wonder what happens next....
While I agree somewhat, the private sector can run the space program much better. The government is better off providing some incentives for providing cost effective, practical applications.
And as I said, I'd like Bradbury to explain more about what he's looking for from the government.
