According to recent lies, damn lies or statistics I read somewhere, most people now wish Proposition 8 had never passed. Some of them probably think that California has more important stuff to worry about unemployment, approaching bankruptcy and/or foreclosure, undocumented [democrats] aliens arriving by the truckload from Arizona to be fed, housed and provided medical care and the like at taxpayer expense from an eroding tax base. The gang populations of California, already substantial, may be augmented. Some folks may now view trying to keep homosexuals from marrying each other as like, so yesterday and had rather go play with their hula hoops, enjoy their recreational drugs and tend to the needs of their pet rocks; or whatever. It seems unlikely that Californians have suffered physical, economic or other substantial harm as a result of the homosexual marriages which have already taken place; few heterosexual marriages have likely been destroyed because of them and it seems unlikely that heterosexuals who were heretofore inclined to marry will change their minds. I think it would have been better had the federal court case never got started, because in its present posture it seems likely to end in frustration for those, like me, who think the Tenth Amendment is and should remain viable; the Proposition 8 case may leave it in an intensive care ward in some underfunded and understaffed public hospital at the mercy of ObamaCare. Battles should be chosen wisely and resources should be conserved for the most important fights; there are lots of them.

Well, the federal court case got started because homosexual activists filed a lawsuit. What exactly is the point of this? Some wish Prop. 8 never passed? But who started the homosexual marriage movement? Who triggered all of this in the first place.
Twenty years ago, marriage was about the least controversial subject in America. Nobody questioned the sex of the partners or what the definition of marriage should be. The federal government and all states accepted that marriage was a man and a woman. We wouldn’t be where we are if not for activists challenging the status quo via lawsuits.
So are they mad at the LEFT for the gay issue being at or near the top of THEIR agenda?

It has done enormous cultural damage and has done a great deal to legitimize the pathological sodomite “death-style” to children and thoughtless adults.
The sodomite “lifestyle” is not just about promiscuous buggery, the practioners are severely psychologically disordered, which is why Hitler’s SA was the “gayest” bunch of Nazi thugs on the planet - until their sodomite leader was suspected of planning to oust Hitler to make himself “Queen Bee”. The Night of the Long Knives then ensued...And nobody seems to be brave enough to discuss the paedophile tendencies of sodomite men.
All of this is extraneous when America defaults or the deficient becomes the controlling problem. That’s okay, keep worrying about trivial problems...
Liberal democrats and you agree on what is trivial.
Heh...not exactly fair. You just have to look at the bigger picture and then decide. These things are important but in the bigger scope of what is going on, come on... If America as we know it does not exist, what good is your arguments?
First, that should be “are” your arguments...
Actually, I am for all of your arguments and have been in the past. You unfortunately continue to push for minor items (yes, minor when the place if falling apart) when the world as you know it is coming apart at the seams.
Before we can argue such things, we have to have a government that “can” listen. The way things are going today, that really may not be the case. Yeah, I know, it can never happen in America...but it is and you fail to see the symptoms.
When things get back to normal, I will be happy to join you in fighting these but until then, you’d better be fighting for your own freedom to even discuss these ideas.
It won’t be long until the government “owns” you and your freedoms unless rebellions starts now. If that occurs, you will not have a chance to even state your views - freedom of speech is fast becoming dependent upon our government.
I’d guess we have about 5 more years until things either change or get worse. The choice is ours.
What is this new strategy about?
This is an entirely new game plan by liberal republicans, demanding that military issues, gun issues, the homosexual agenda, education, American culture, American families, Islam, etc, are all now off limits in republican politics, it is brazen, but ridiculous, it won’t work on conservatives.
I understand that liberal, anti-social conservative, “economic conservatives” want to try and make the GOP the Democrat party with better economics, but that weak scam wouldn’t fool a child, much less conservatives.
Well, all I have to say is that you really need to be more current on what is going on...
I am in agreement, but you really missing the big picture and what is happening now! America is going down very fast by Rome standards and you are still screaming about the smoke.
If you want the conservative vote then you better put up a conservative, not a liberal that only embraces our economics.
How do you guys expect to replace the conservative majority of the Republican party in time to win the 2012 election, where are all those new people going to come from?
Wouldn't it be easier for you guys to work from within the democrat party instead, and while embracing the rest of their agenda, try to change their economics to a more conservative view?
Of course I vote conservative... Maybe you are missing the point. Voting seems NOT to matter much these days. Yes, we can change things on the peripheral, but for the most part, it keeps on going the same way... We had that chance in the 80’s and it was shown that once in office, they all become selfish and somewhat liberal.
My point is that with the problems today, we should worry more about where the country is going and if it survives. With our outstanding debt and the obligations of government pensions, Social Security, Medicare, etc., we will not survive much longer. Those in government keep voting themselves more largess.
It does not matter much who you vote into office now. They can NOT do anything to change the direction that the country is now heading. The required changes would be way too much for Politicians to do or vote for even though the public is smart enough to ask for them. They vote for themselves and their future.
So... Yes, vote for your Conservative. Do you really think that things will change? Of course not, after a couple years in office, they continue to vote for themselves.
That is the problem. We have no Statesmen, no one who actually thinks of the future...and yet, you want to worry about minor things (well, I use to think of as major things) instead of where we are heading...
It is unfortunately going to take a bit of a revolution against government before things change - not violent, but a constant revolt until they actually decide to resolve real issues. Not really sure how that is going to happen, maybe tax revolt, maybe going Galt, not sure...but it is going to happen.
