I’ve convinced more than a few in my church not to vote for him, all I have to do is tell them Kirk’s record. It’s a very conservative minded church and people listen and they are shocked to learn how liberal Kirk is.

We will be having this conversation again in 2012, (If you and I are still here) should Romney happen to get the nomination because I’ll never vote for him either.

I don’t know why your replies were deleted. Did you use profanity? I see plenty of profanity from other posters though. I try not to use it myself but sometimes when writing about Kirk, the term “ultra liberal bastard” sort of slips out.
No, I didn’t use profanity (look at post #106 by one of the Kirk trolls which is still standing). I called out these liberal pukes (and they are right there to see, the same repeated lies, myths and debunked talking points combined with personal insults) and yet MY posts get pulled ?!? Disgusting. Note not a single one of their garbage posts has been admonished or yanked, and I’d like to know why. Some of us have been unapologetically going after Socialists within the GOP and their supporters on this very website from day #1 here (from Ah-nold to Slick Willard, now Kirk) and WE are the ones to get punished, threatened and have our posts pulled ? I’m sorry, but this is outrageous. Are we to be a Conservative website or protect liberal trolls one ? The AM has yet to answer why my posts were pulled while theirs get to stay.
Today, I read about a poll, on thecapitolfaxblog.com. The results are: Giannoulias, 37%; Kirk, 35%; Jones, 9%; and undecided, 19%. 66% of conservatives support Kirk. That probably happended because he was the least liberal choice. If the pollster mentioned Stufflebeam, the majority of conservatives would have chosen Stufflebeam.
The fact that only 66% of “Conservatives” support Kirk (for a Republican candidate) is disastrous for his candidacy. A Republican can’t win in IL with that many deserting him. Contrast that with Bill Brady, who is running, what, 20% ahead of him ? Brady needs to do to Kirk what Kirk has already done to Brady’s candidacy in actions, simply repudiate him loudly and publicly and demand the party replace him for a credible candidate (and almost any center-right Republican could beat Alexi at this point).
Kirk conversely couldn't care less about Brady's election last time I checked.

The party leaders hated him cause he wasn't corrupt. They undermined him at every turn and prepared for a primary challenge. The point man on the operation was Ray LaHood, rewarded with an Obama cabinet post. The guy who was gonna run against Fitzgerald was Andy McKenna future State Party Chairman, he was gonna spend his own fortune doing it. I remember numerous columns by the late Sun Times Columnist Steve Neal trashing Fitzgerald and talking up McKenna. Fitz retired and left the state, a good man thoroughly disgusted with his own party and state. The rest is black history. The same 'tards offered no assistance to new GOP nominee Jack Ryan after he committed the capital offense of wanting to have sex with his own wife, then they hand the nomination to Alan Keyes so he could lose big to help convince the uninformed that "conservatives can't win statewide". They honestly would rather have a democrat in the Senate than a Republican that doesn't play ball.
We call the corrupt cooperation betwixt the 2 parties here the Combine. The whole country can thank the leadership of the Illinois Republican Party for Obama, doesn't that just make you feel warm and fuzzy inside?

Come on. Nobody means it when they say that, it's the standard boilerplate. Likely though they all would indeed like to spend more time with their families (in addition to the real reason for retirement) so it the perfect universal excuse.
He sounds more like a McCainiac to me.
Certainly he was far from perfect, you just named all the bad things he was for. But he was the best Senator we’ve had since Dirksen. His lifetime rating from the American Conservative Union was 88.
And most importantly he opposed the combine.
I don’t love Patrick Fitzgerald either but I’d much rather have him in there than any insider that the state leaders wanted Peter Fitzgerald to put in.
