August was always the month, when President Bush went to his ranch in Crawford, but unlike the current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, President Bush worked during his vacation, as you can see in the photos

New Orleans should be thankful for George W. Bush
http://dailycaller.com/2010/08/31/new-orleans-should-be-thankful-for-george-w-bush/
It is so touching and meaningful, and that fact that your dear Mom had it in her Bible speaks volumes about her walk with the Lord.
So glad to have you back! Still praying, my friend!
And I LOVE that Ohio poll. WTG, Buckeyes!
DrDeb, thank you for the links.
Fox&Friends, Brian Kilmeade spoke about joining President Bush for the Golf event on Friday. I emailed Brian to ask that he let President Bush know he is still missed and loved by many Americans and suggested he alert the President to ‘ A Month in the life of George W. Bush’ on Freerepublic.com.
I know the email will probably ‘go nowhere’ but, makes me feel better to try to let W know we miss him.
Thanks for the great update! OUR president has shown by
everything he does that he is a TRUE American hero and
respects all people.
A beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing.
Just curious ... have we, as a country, ever "celebrated" the anniversary of a devasting hurricane before?
Hey LUV, are there Katrina celebrations in Texas?
No celebrations here. I think Rita and Ike impacted us more
than Katrina...and we picked ourselves up, dusted ourselves
off and moved on. We don’t dwell on the past but look to the
future. That is what makes Texas great! No whining here! :)
Obama has only “made” words happen. He hasn’t done a darn
thing for one person but himself and the Keystone Kops
around him!
Then again, like Texas, they didn't whine and cry and blame the President for their misfortune and use it to club him with repeatedly.
LOL!
I don’t think “celebrating” is exactly the word. The people
impacted by these monster storms have their memories of what
they were doing and what happened to their property or lives,
but then they go back to real life and just thank God that
they are still here to tell the tale.
Only New Orleans seems to dwell on the actual disaster instead
of pulling themselves out of it. They are still waiting for
someone else to do it for them....and that’s just the wrong
tack to take, IMHO. It’s a mindset.....a wrong one....
Well of course they do! Katrina was used to wrongly club President Bush by the commies and a good portion of the so-called republicans. And it continues to this day -- thus the "celebrations"

Today I had a conversation with someone about disaster preparedness. The talk turned to Hurricane Earl bearing down on the East Coast. She then launched into a rant about how "Someone heard a loud BOOM" right before the levee failed down near New Orleans five years ago.
Why do I keep hearing this story?
For the same reason we keep hearing "9-11 was an inside job" perhaps? Or the ever popular "there was no WMD" ... or the "Bush was AWOL" meme?
Because conspiracy theories are self-perpetuating. They have no basis in truth but what people "wish" had happened so they could blame the ones they WANT to be responsible.
As my brother said.....""Can the Government guarantee the dikes wild hold next time?" Give me a break....NO! The sea wins every time." Nuff said. But enablers and those who wish to place blame will never understand that nor do they want to understand the REAL truth.
The October 2003 National Geographic (I believe that’s the right month/year) had an article on New Orleans and the system of walls and levees in place to protect this sub-sea level city. It stressed that this system would fail in the event of a major hurricane, Category 3 or above.
I don’t believe the people who perpetuate these theories read an awful lot.
I think you’re right. They just sit back and expect others
to do their thinking AND their rebuilding for them!...on OUR dime!
Brian recently wrote "Any suggestions for me and my round of golf w/ President Bush on Friday?" He is getting lots of nice comments for GWB. Brian has also made lots of funny comments as he is not a golfer and has been cramming this week!
Thanks...checked out the site.
Thanks for the heads up . . . I joined his page — didn’t relize he had been a stand up comedian for 10 years!
Tomorrow morning (9/3) Fox & Friends will cover his ‘tee off’ with President Bush — they hope to get an on air interview!
I heard Bill Hemmer and Martha MacCallum on the radio yesterday with Brian. They were obviously very envious (in a friendly way) of Brian's opportunity to play with President Bush.
It will be such fun to see the tee-off!
Still praying for you, DrDeb, and your family.
