Port Richmond used to be a great neighborhood 50 years ago. I loved on Staten Island for the past 35 years and the decline had already begun. I can’t say for certain that the attacks on the Mexicans are “hate” crimes. All I know is that it is a shame the way a once stately neighborhood has declined.

Oh, Please! Port Richmond was always a working class to poor neighborhood. It was never "stately" and was basically an industrial area/shopping area that faded as Staten Island deindustrialized and retail development shifted to the South Shore.
Basically, the welfare class blacks are robbing (illegal) Mexicans of their paychecks. Been going on for years.
