With his new book, Decision Points set for release the next day, former Pres. George W. Bush will sit down with NBCs Today show anchor Matt Lauer in a one-hour prime time special.
It will be the first one-on-one interview Pres. Bush has agreed to since he left office. From the Today show site:
Since leaving office, President George W. Bush has never granted a one-on-one television interview about his presidency. But hell sit down with TODAYs Matt Lauer in a special Matt Lauer Reports airing in prime time on Monday, Nov. 8.
President Bush will also join Matt live on TODAY on Wednesday, Nov. 10. He will talk about his book Decision Points, which will be released by Crown Publishers Nov. 9, and about key choices he has made in both his political and personal life.
Choosing NBC, over say Fox News, to tell his story shows the mass audience George W. Bush is looking for in anticipation of his book release (he also recently joined Facebook). Also, the interview takes place nearly a week after the 2010 midterm elections.
Lauer has interviewed Pres. Bush a couple times during his presidency in 2004 and in 2006
Let’s not get all wee-wee’d up!
W is a big boy, he can handle a wuss like Lauer. This interview could have impact, we all know that if he’d been interviewed by Fox News the lefties would just dismiss it as propaganda.
There’s no downside - the left already hates him. If Bush does well, it might change some perceptions amongst independents and those who have actual brains.
I hope Bush no longer feels bound by the constraints of the Presidency and gives matt a good kick in the nuts.
I agree, I think many who may have even voted for Obama may now find themselves actually nostalgic for Bush, now that they've witnessed the contrast.
The thing is, these people are his friends.
“From the article :
“...in a special Matt Lauer Reports airing in prime time on Monday, Nov. 8.”
IOW, it’ll be aired a few days after the election.”
NO it is about the Book he scribbled out, when is that being released?
Can anyone imagine Clinton or Obama going onto the Glen Beck show for a first interview regarding a new book? So why do Republicans persist in giving first interviews to far left wing liberal “journalists”?
Bush will probably give a one hour interview, nearly all of which will consist of fighting off low-ball “gotcha” questions from Lauer. Lauer will then cherry pick 5 to 10 minutes of whichever sound bites make Bush look bad and Lauer look good.
If Bush wanted a fair and honest interview, he should have gone to Brit Hume.
Well, I'll be choosing Fox News over nbc when the interview airs.
Ok I got it;”President Bush will also join Matt live on TODAY on Wednesday, Nov. 10. He will talk about his book Decision Points, which will be released by Crown Publishers Nov. 9, and about key choices he has made in both his political and personal life.”
What Key choices?
At this point in time what difference does it make if George W. Bush has an interview with Matt Lauer? Bush is getting blamed for all of Obama’s shortcomings and miserable policy decisions. Can it get any worse?
W is a one-worlder like his dad. He’s not going say what needs to be said — that Obama and Pelosi are plunging the US headlong into a socialist nightmare, where you will lose your freedom, rights, and sovereignty, and the American people should stand up to them and say NO.
Will Matt be licking his face like NBC did all weekend over Chelsea and her wonderful parents??????

Surprisingly, a fair amount of that went on here on FR, as well.
It would mean everything in the world. It is time for Conservative ex-Presidents to take full and fair advantage of their status ... just the way every Liberal ex-President has always selfishly and recklessly done whether their opinion was asked or NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take the glove OFF, man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
President Bush is neither stupid or dumb. I sit in awe at how some of you say the most insane things about the Bush family.

Yep. Halfway through the 0bama term - I didn't say "first" 0bama term - we get a reconsideration of all those "Bush era policies" the entrenched media are now screeching we shouldn't return to. That would be difficult in any case inasmuch as we haven't deviated much from so many of them.
There have already been trial balloons on the Left to the effect that 0bama should get credit for "drawing down" in Iraq and Bush the blame for the entire Afghanistan effort. They've ridden that horse to death but they're still beating it. It isn't going to carry them through November but I get the sense that an awful lot of the Dem partisans think that by sufficient beating they'll revivify it. I'm certainly not going to try to talk them out of it.
If you bothered to read the except of the article posted, you would have read :
"President Bush will also join Matt live on TODAY on Wednesday, Nov. 10. He will talk about his book Decision Points, which will be released by Crown Publishers Nov. 9..."
Looking forward to the release of Bush’s new book. It will set the record straight on a number of items.
