Hundreds of children and parents gathered at an Orlando church early Saturday to raise awareness about health and obesity.
The Walk A Mile With A Child event at Grace Bible Church, sponsored by the National Medical Association, was designed to reach black and Hispanic Orlandoans with a message about the benefits of a commitment to physical fitness. Adams is former state and national president of the National Medical Association.

Reparations By Way Of Health Care Reform

Race obsession is never rational and never healthy.
I can say that despite minority-only tutoring sessions in which our professors basically gave away the answers to anatomy practicals, the “affirmative action” members of our medical school class were pretty much universally represented at the bottom. Everyone knew who they were. More than a handful never made it with passing grades.
I guess there’s always more room at the bottom, but some of these students had no business in a medical school class. I wouldn’t personally go to them as a doctor knowing what I know now.
Doesn’t mean they can’t eventually turn things around, but it sure didn’t happen over four-years of medical school.
It’s a sad state that I have to use this as a disclaimer for the rest of the minority kids in our class, as some of them absolutely deserved to be there. But the majority of the minority...let’s just say there were far more qualified candidates than they were.
If they pass the boards you call them Doctor. I don’t care what color they are as long as they come out of a very good school, something WAY ABOVE the level of Howard U.!
YEP...affirmative action is destroying the opportunities for QUALIFIED minorities to rise to levels they should....everyone (minority) now faces possible patients who will question WHETHER they were a product of AA, or their own hard work and skills.
More black physicians?
Yes, that’s what they need. More unqualified blacks given seats in medical school, coddled along to graduation by race-norming and other ways of reducing standards, and then released into the community to work as physicians and butcher patients.
Then the black folk can complain that blacks get poorer health care than whites and have a lower life expectancy... whitey’s fault!
Dream on. Blacks who are upwardly mobile and have the education and financial means are NOT going to stop the process with obamacare looming. They will more likely enter the law field which will promise huge salaries when suing the few remaining overworked and unhappy docs and health institutions.
Silk purse - pigs ear comes to mind.
Kids might do better going to Ronald McDonald U.
A couple of suggestion to the U S Surgeon General. (I didn’t know we had one in the Obama admin - I thought it would be a Czar)
Black students must stay in high school
A basketball contract will not make you a Doctor.
You have to be able to speak clearly, and, above all, be able to write!
Oh yes, it takes at least 8 more years of school just ot be called “Doctor”.
Here’s something you never see reported:
The underqualified black that took Bakke’s medical school seat went on to lose his license after killing a patient.
But I’m sure he was a good role model...
If they don’t want to be treated by cracker (and Hispanic) doctors and nurses they can get black doctors from out of the area or start black medical schools. Maybe Obama will lower the requirements to become a black medical professional.
“Hope they dont want a quota for minority airline pilots.”
It’s already been done.
You are about 25 years behind the times. This has already been demanded, and accomplished. Those guys are in their latter portions of their careers by now.
No, they don't.
Once a minority has demonstrated its ability to achieve, it loses its minority status -- even if it's really a minority.
To the left, the word "minority" is a synonym for loser.
The underqualified black that took Bakkes medical school seat went on to lose his license after killing a patient.
But Im sure he was a good role model...

Lower standards. Hand out medical degrees like candy.
Very true! My husband had successful emergency surgery at the hands of an African-American doctor. We just want a competent doctor...that should be the priority.
