Why is New Jersey shown as a “May-Issue” State? They almost certainly will NOT issue. It might SAY so on paper, but reality is different.
I’ve tried. Was told flat out by the Sgt of the NJSP firearms unit that it would be refused by the Superior Court judge.
Basically it went like this....
“Why?”
Answer:
“Because...”
“yeah, but why?”
Answer:
“Because...”
“I have a constitutional right...”
Answer:
“Not in New Jersey...”
Then I said:
“My carry license is recognized by 23 other states...”
Answer:
“New Jersey doesn’t recognize it...”
Not kidding.
I have no experience with Jersey, but in CA (another “may issue” state) it depends on the county you live in. Rural counties with pro-gun sheriffs will usual issue CCW licenses. But in ‘Rat-infested counties there’s little to no chance unless you’re politically connected.
