“As someone much smarter than myself pointed out, “Paul McCartney?! When was the last time he was relevant? 1970?”
As I grow older and more conservative, I am beginning to feel that the only relevancy these aged rockers had was to help destroy the American culture. Oh I know it is nostalgic to muse on the “talents” of Paul McCartney but even by 1970,the Beatles had lost a lot of their edge. For Pete’s sake, they had to concoct a bogus myth about Paul being dead in 1969 in order to keep themselves current and interesting. He is only revered now because he reminds all the middle aged folks of their youth. Personally, I think that rock n roll music provided the early soundtrack for our cultural demise.

Wow...OK. Fair enough. I live to rock and rock to live. I always have and I always will. I'm not a cultural misfit. Rock 'n roll is music, that's all. Our "cultural demise" as you call it was more likely brought about by a generation that didn't have to make any sacrifices and wouldn't have even if it had been necessary. Blaming a music genre for that is, with all due respect, rather silly to me.

BTW, please don't respond...you've brought me down enough already.

I watched some of the PBS special and all it did was remind me of how old I’m getting. Paul sounded terrible.
