America has more pressing needs... such as putting tens of millions of unemployed onto never ending welfare.

Man, how awesome would it be to be one of the first people to set foot on another planet? I think I’d sign up even if it was going to be a one-way trip.
Assuming NASA would take me, which I think it’s pretty safe to assume they wouldn’t, LOL.

And, Obama will find a way to tax it.

Russia is welcome to go to Mars. I could almost wish they would all go to Mars.

Obama will take the challenge, insist we lose to make Russia look good, demand Russia take Muslim astronauts with them and then fully fund the Russian program with taxpayer dollars.

Obama will want a Muslim to be the first to land on Mars. I doubt the Russians will send a Muslim so Obama may suddenly jump us into this new space race!

It's hard to believe we are going to pass at a chance of making Mars the 58th state.

USA astronauts to an asteroid and to Mars no later than 2015, according to NASA. Sooner than predicted in April by US President Barack Obama: Mars in the mid-2030s. NASA has no future manned space flight using American craft after February 26, 2011, when the final shuttle flight, STS-134, will be sent up.
In fact, as far as future missions of any kind, the only others that I see listed at NASA's website are:
- A small satellite to study greenhouse gases and global warming called "Glory".
- A number of flights on Russian spacecraft to the International Space Station.
- An unmanned spacecraft called Juno which will orbit Jupiter.
