Apparently Krauthammer agrees too. I haven’t seen it yet, but according to one of Ace’s co-bloggers, CK said on “Special Report” a few minutes ago that Sherrod deserves an apology and her job back. The NAACP’s statement:

Anyone listening to that speech would conclude she was speaking much in the present tense.

That said I'm certainly glad there are some many sympathetic, forgiving souls on my side. I just hope there are still a few nasty Lee Atwater types around to carry the fight, though.

if you listen to her whole speech/story..........she saw the error of her ways and that was the point of the speech. she was ultimately talking about moving out of racism into becoming color blind. Breitbart’s point was that the NAACP crowd was applauding/approviing her early racist stance, early on in the speech — that is what everyone seized upon. it would be ironic if the Tea Party came to her defense.

She was recounting how she had been rascist and is now redeemed. The testimonial from the white farmer, we heard today, that she went beyond the call of duty to help is evidence of that. Also, given that her father was, suposedly, murdered by a white farmer, her redemption is admirable.

I think we both know this would be an entirely different story in that case. We can only look back in recent history and see that.

I believe eventually the white lawwyer had to withdraw from their case because he had another case taking up a lot of his time. Whether they then went with the black lawyer, I don't know.

The farmer's widow agrees with her...they become friends.

Sure they fired her quick...

CNN says Obama fully supports her firing

Obama briefed after Sherrod incident

(CNN) - President Obama was briefed after Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack decided to seek Shirley Sherrod’s resignation and fully supports that decision, a White House official said Tuesday.

Yet, she’s in another story as being re-hired with apologies
somewhere (will find the link). Sheesh.

OT, did the NAACP chime in on this one:

That is an interesting question, and I have never heard anyone who was for redistribution of wealth with an answer.

And there are those who are defending the woman?

Let's say some guy named Saul was being really horrid--persecuting people zealously--and then he suddenly realizes one day on the road that he's been wrong.

I sure hope he never told of that realization and described how he'd acted before it!

Actually, now that I think about it, wasn't there a guy like that in Galatians 1...?

13For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews' religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it:

I think they should--at least to defend hearing the rest of the speech. It's possible some is still wrong. Perhaps she still has the idea that the public is going to her and not to the government as she sits in her position of power...who knows. But it should be heard, at least.

I didn’t see that...I saw them nodding and agreeing that they had those feelings, that she had in the past...If the rest of the tape shows that she was illustrating how she USED to be, and the audience had also felt that way before...then Breitbart is gonna have a lot of ‘splaining to do.

It is possible she was using the past story as a way to explain how she had changed...I will wait to see the whole tape. Usually Breitbart doesn’t goof...so this will be interesting.

We can thank Obozo for making the racial issue in this country worse than ever!

the crowd may also have reacted that way noddding and all as recognition of how they also HAD felt that way in the past.

I understand exactly what Breitbart was doing, however it does not excuse what she said, much as some would like us to move on.
I listened to what has been played, perhaps there is more that I have not heard. However, her part about having a revelation was jumbled, and she said it wasn’t about black and white, but it WAS about black and white. Is she trying to have it both ways?
So, please tell me what I might have missed in which she talks about becoming color blind, because I don’t recall that, so maybe it is in some part of the tape I didn’t see.

On another thread I pointed out that Breitbart may not have the full tape. It might have been edited by the time he got it.

Saul left the Pharaisees.

We're talking about the NAACP and Obama administration here.

As I remember she pitched working for the FedGov as a job you’ll never get fired from. Is my memory right?

Laid off from, not fired.

She was talking about so many layoffs these days and yet blacks don't go for the secure government jobs because of the "fields" association with the Dept of Agriculture. From what we saw, it's not that she advocated bigger government, but that she said blacks don't tend to take advantage of the reality that's there.

Could go either way, depending on the rest of the video.

I agree with you...if this is true, Breitbart will be a fool.

the conservatives ‘knee jerk reaction is also a way that we have got snookered into this racial divisiveness by this regime!

Clearly Fox DID edit the tape and not play it all, because I didn’t hear anything about redemption. As for the white farmer, I havn’t seen anything indicating we know this is the same person. (maybe she only ever helped one farmer?) and the fact that their stories don’t jibe has made me a bit skeptical on that.
